They never happen but it is my dream. We’re in no mans land. I say baring an overpayment, we keep our guys. The only thing that make sense is Armia + Evans for a solid prospect RHD or center. But those trades never happen so…
I'd only trade Evans in a package for the right RD at this point. Nemec. The team has just won 3 in a row and within 5 points of a wild card spot.
Second round picks on average give you a 1 in 10 shot of a good player, maybe 2 in 10 of a bottom player. We'd get late 2nds.
So for me 3rd rounders and later id just keep the player to keep moral up as the boys dont need us just tossing in the towel. Have to say, even a late 2nd doesnt do it for me and I'd just keep Evans even if hes walking. Let them get some experience fighting for a spot.
Kind of funny we hear all this trade talk surrounding Evans, all this demand from several teams , all for a 2nd ?
Just recently our 2nd round picks have landed us Lane Hutson,Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen so pretty sure every 2nd round pick counts and worst case scenario u package them to move up like we did to grab HageThe team has just won 3 in a row and within 5 points of a wild card spot.

They don't need to 'move' anyone and, no, its not bad asset management, at this point, if they don't get draft picks at any cost.Just recently our 2nd round picks have landed us Lane Hutson,Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen so pretty sure every 2nd round pick counts and worst case scenario u package them to move up like we did to grab Hage
This is not a playoffs team Habs need to move Armia and Evans but they can keep Savard and Dvorak they wont be worth enough

There's benefits to both scenarios.....decisions, decisions for KojackThe total calculus is as follows.
The Habs can trade Dvorak, Evans, Armia, Savard, and get back a return of approximately four 2nd round picks. The Habs get worse and the 1st pick lands in the 5-8 range rather than the 10-14 range, which also helps keep Calgary out of the top ten. Mailloux (or Trudeau, or Engstrom) and Roy likely get some NHL time.
Or ...
The Habs win a few more games, which is better for the development of the young players currently on the roster, and sends a message of support to a roster that is competing and trying to win.
Not in the mood for Elliotte Friedman ASMR, thank youListening to 32 thoughts on headphones that don't suck and you can hear Friedman making those old man mouth noises before he goes to speak
Not good enough in recent seasons both Detroit and Buffalo were in closer proximity than we are and did exactly that... nothing. The team has just won 3 in a row and within 5 points of a wild card spot.

I very much agree with the post but the highlighted is incorrect - Habs have gained 1pt on 2nd wildcard spot & 2pts on 1st wildcard spot. They don't need to 'move' anyone and, no, its not bad asset management, at this point, if they don't get draft picks at any cost.
Keeping Evans and Armia, which are the only two that might be traded, and losing them for nothing is like an acquisition for the development of the younger players at the NHL level to end off the season, not necessarily a move made because they think they will make the playoffs per se.
Right now, staying 5 points out of the playoffs as long as possible is still meaningful games.
Doubt we make it into the playoffs as seen after winning three consecutive games and not making up any ground for a playoff spot.
Those multiple teams ahead of us are playing each other to end out their seasons and, some losses for one team will just mean a win for another team we are chasing.
Not saying the picks are useless, just that there are other considerations. Not good enough in recent seasons both Detroit and Buffalo were in closer proximity than we are and did exactly that... nothing.
Both teams crashed. If as you say the picks are so useless then we need to spend some because we have a boatload of later picks. This roster won't get us to a WC position as is without some added beef.
