Is Mittelstadt a good target for us?

Not really.

...I don't really get why not...sure, Mitts is a slower, cerebral guy and not an up-tempo Mover & Shaker, but he's got the talent and I personally think he might mesh well with Dach on RW and Slaf or Demidov on LW...and he's MUCH better than just continuing to throw Dach out there at C to look lost most of the time...

I highly recommend you guys check out the Isles board and see their thoughts on Dobson. Maybe he's just been this bad under Patrick Roy but his play is unbelievably concerning.

Cozen's contract is a red flag and he doesn't move the needle for us even if he's better than Dach. Neither player can play center well.
Cozens contract is no bigger an issue than it was for Suzuki, Caufield and Slafkosky’s before they proved themselves. Question is wether or not HuGo think he’s going to be the guy he was last year when he broke out and be a future 2nd line center, Dach is struggling to be.

Wonder what St Louis Blues will do. Jim Montgomery hasnt drastically changed their yr going .500

3 yrs in a row the core wont make the playoffs

Will there be a rebuild or retool

Not that a disagree but his breakout was 2 seasons ago

Last yr wasnt good and neither is this yr

His last 130 ish games arent a positive trend

You wouldn’t do it for Caufield ?

I would consider it strongly personally

An argument can be made for Caufield (or for Slaf) if Dobson is coming the other way.

Demidov would slot into Caufield's spot on the first line and the right side of the defence is all of a sudden not looking so dire. Habs are now free to trade Savard, and Mattheson in the near future. Carriere is bumped down a notch and Dobson anchors the first pairing for a good long while.

The team is bigger and more balanced.

It's so Lou to want to trade a 25 year old, developing RHD, while wanting to resign a 33 year old declining center.

Isles probably want to retool as opposed to anything else so would need NHL ready assets.
And to get Dobson, you have to pay up, not gonna happen with Roy + 2nd...but I haven't watched enough of Dobson lately to make a firm opinion.

Does anyone know why Dobson production dropped this season? He scored 70pts last season.
Isles as a team are scoring slightly less goals per game this year (2,72 GF/G) compared to last year (2,99 GF/G) and Dobson's on-ice shooting percentage has also decreased signifanctly from 11,3% last year to 8,9%, which naturally decreases the possible amount of points he could get by quite a lot. So far the difference is most notable on the power play, where Dobson only has 7 points this year while last year he had 24 power play points in total.

Effectively, the Isles this year are clearly a much weaker team offensively. Dobson's advanced stats are better than ever this year however, so I think it's more to do about the team surrounding him rather than any indication of his own personal level.

He's just not that good.. if he's not finding offense on Colorado, it won't get magically better here.

He's soft as baby shit, too.

...in Colorado, he's a slower cerebral guy on a high-tempo run & gun Avs team...I think he'd fit better here, given the chance, with Dach (RW) and Slaf or Demidov (LW)...and he's at least far more defensively responsible than Dach is at 2C...

I like the idea of Dobson, but not at the cost it'd take to get him.

With Hutson having the #1 pp spot for the foreseeable future, I don't think Dobson would be anywhere near a 70 point guy with us. The Islanders would probably be looking for a top 6 forward+ something else back. So we'd still be left with a need at 2C and a new hole on the wing in the top 6 that'd we'd have to fill, but we'd now have less assets to fill those holes.

It makes more sense for a team needing a powerplay quarterback desperately.

...Mailloux could be our Dobson; not as severe a need right now, as we have lots of "offensive defensemen"...a 2C and a defensive-minded two-way RD (which I'm hoping will eventually be Reinbacher) are of much more significance atm, imo...

They have great offense already Thomas, Kyrou ... Dvorsky,Snuggerud coming soon, but their D is old. They acquired Broberg, but rest is above 30. They are already retooling.

slaf is young but getting huge coin next year
is concerning..
He’s still very young and progressing. He’ll he just fine as long as he continues down this path, which I think is a safe bet given his line mates a show close he is with leadership on the team.
