75% of 1st rounders don’t even play a single NHL game
Almost all of them play a single game.
Only around 1/2 dozen didn’t from 2010 to 2019.

Even when you look at those who played 200 games, your numbers are likely backwards, with 75% reaching 200.

A shits and giggles question just because......who'd you rather offer sheet?

Noah Dobson
or
Wyatt Johnson

I can see Habs be sellers and buyers.

Sellers in trading some if not every upcoming UFA.
Buyers in acquiring players with term who will be here for more than a year.

Similar to the Caps a few years ago when they were out of a playoff spot come TDL, they traded upcoming UFAs, but end up trading a 1st to TOR for Rasmus Sandin.

Wyatt Johnston because you might actually get him with the cap and Dallas' situation there.

Dobson might be more available in an actual trade if the Isles finally rebuild.

If I had a choice, I'd target Dobson.

I think adding a legit top pair RD would be a more pressing need. But it would be very tempting to pick Johnston to help solidify the Top-6.

Guhle - Dobson
Hutson - Reinbacher

is a Top-4 that could end up being elite.

We can skew the stat tho and say pretty much he is a 45 ish point player if you use last yr and this yr as the range
Or you could use his career avg?

He's averaging 19 goals and 47 points every 82 games 16:24 TOI
Dach is averaging 13 goals and 37 points every 82 games 16:46 TOI

Considering his TOI which is kind of low for a 2nd line player Cozens stats are actually not bad.

I’d rather Dobson personally but both teams match. They have the cap space this summer thanks to other expiring contracts.

Article for D'amico this morning, for those interested.
Talks about the search for another young center.

Also this from one of his ''sources'':

“Montreal won’t move their two 1st-round picks until they have more clarity on where things are going. Right now, Calgary is playing well above expectations, they’re also only six points away from 10-to-last,” said the same source. “If they make a move now and gift another club a top 15 pick, on top of other assets, it could be disastrous for them.”

Something i've been saying for a while.
Habs won't trade that Calgary pick until they know where it'll land.

D’Amico have 0 credibility though

I think both can be a very useful and effective pieces for this team moving forward but their roles need to change.

I think Dach is better suited as a winger in the top 6, and Newhook should be converted to a 3rd/4th liner and used on the penalty kill.
Armia will be 32. He can't be a piece moving forward. Like every players the closer he will be to 35 the higher the chances will be for him to hit a wall. He is on borrowed time. Evans could be a piece moving forward but he's not an immediat need. What this team needs is to improve the 2nd line and the top 4 of the defense. Every assets should be spent doing that. If Evans is worth a 1st round pick he should be moved and that pick should be used to try to fill one of the real needs either via the draft or via a trade. We have more than enough prospects to build a bottm 6 moving forward what we need is top end talents.

There is ZERO chance we are getting Wyatt Johnson.

True. But that's why @Deebs mentioned it's for shits and giggles.

Still waiting for Gallant to be hired as an assistant.

The guy takes from fake rumour sites and pretends he has sources

To be fair about Gallant, that was on Laraque and his friend who said he spotted him in a coffee shop with Habs brass.

On Cozen, his acquisition only make sense in a scenario where MTL adds to the current roster, not shuffle the chairs on the Titanic deck. You dont trade Dach to get Cozen. pointless exercice.

I dont see a package that make sense for BUF. Newhook+++ wont address a need for them.

Armia can sign a cheaper (than 3.4M actually) but long enough 3-yr deal as we let Dvorak go (not sure there is an actual trading partner out there) and trade Evans for a late first round pick.

We are stuck with Gallagher and Anderson's contracts, I think and the problem is more Newhook and each, both of Hughes' acquired projects that aren't getting off the ground running.

I'd be more interested in replacing Dach as a 2C and flipping both he and Newhook somewhere else. Armia staying as a depth piece on a cheaper contract forum to three years (not more), I'd be fine with.

Gallgher might end up being a rather expensive 13th forward within the next two seasons, but that shouldn't prevent a deserving rookie to earn ice time, IMO.

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine
Slafkovsky - Acquired 2C - Demidov
Heineman - Beck - Armia
XXX - XXX - Anderson
Gallagher

It is noted that a representative from the Buffalo Sabres was present in Los Angeles to observe the Canadiens players, which is particularly interesting knowing that the team is interested in Dylan Cozens, chosen 7th overall in 2019.

We can but thats closer to what i said any way, 45ish points

Frankly i prefer going by recent trends, not 3 season ago player. If thats the player MTL gets then great. Last yr and this yr say otherwise. But thats just a preference of metrics
