The more I think about it, the more I think that Hughes is going to be hunting around very hard for a 2C this TDL and Draft/FA period.

I think it's becoming apparent that we don't have anyone fit for that position, and there isn't anyone in the pipeline that can arrive soon enough and with enough certainty to make an impact. I don't think we can walk into next season with a giant question mark at 2C again. It would probably mean we miss the playoffs again.

I'm not sure Cozens is the answer, myself, but it is interesting to think about.

Why would the want Guhle? They already have Dhalin, Power and Byram all as left handed defensemen.

Man, just getting out from the Slafkovsky contract is worth that trade, let alone getting a far superior player for it.

We can't move Guhle for a 2C. Creating a hole (and we can already see how big and ugly that hole is right now), to try to fill another.

Also, it doesn't make sense to me to trade Slaf. He still has a lot of runway left, and it's not like he's the only player on this team struggling right now.

That makes sense. Suzuki, Dach, Beck, Kapanen, Hage and Evans (if he stays) all shoot right, so it's something we can't ignore.

He's going to be on the UFA market. Trading for him makes no sense. Nor would Florida do it while they have a shot at another cup.

It is noted that a representative from the Buffalo Sabres was present in Los Angeles to observe the Canadiens players, which is particularly interesting knowing that the team is interested in Dylan Cozens, chosen 7th overall in 2019.

My guess is we move one of Beck or Kapanen in a deal for a left handed center either of the same caliber.
