If Duschene isn't signed by Dallas and hitsvthe market we should look at him. He produces, is fast and wins face offs.
I wanted him when avs were dealing him, wanted him when sens were dealing him, and wanted him in free agency. Hell of a player. Only question is, what does he have left. At 34, hard to say. But I'd be open to it depending on salary/term

What does he have left? He's still close to PPG, so that's good no?

I hate to say it but wouldn't Trouba be a nice piece with Hutson? I know he has a NMC and it's a $8M cap hit but it's for one more year. We can stick it to the Rangers and Trouba/Habs can knock them out of the race. haha.

Hutson / Trouba
Guhle / Matheson
Xhekaj / Carrier

I think I would offer a 2nd and whatever meh adds for Trouba and flip Savard for whatever we can get (offsets cap hit for Trouba). What would be the cost to acquire Trouba and do you think he would come to Montreal?

Who else could we use a 2nd for to add a physical RD who has top 4D ability? I guess R Pulock is another but he comes with term. R Anderson is another. I actually don't think R Anderson's price is as high as the Flames fans want it to be. It's probably something around what we got for Toffoli but maybe another piece. Other teams will knock on the Andersson door for sure but most of those teams can only offer a pick 25+. If we offer the Flames 1st back, that is likely 14-18 range. That's also much higher than what the Flames gave us for Toffoli.

Offer them Savard as a stop gap RD for their playoff run. Flames 1st, Savard, Roy or Beck, and a one of our 2nd's. That's more value than the Toffoli trade and should make up the difference between a RD and a RW. Both had an extra year of term.

Yeah, I'm back on the R Andersson train! If Flames 1st, Savard, Roy or Beck, and a 2nd gets it done. I'm sold.

Hutson / Andersson
Guhle / Matheson

You know Trouba has been traded to the Ducks like a month ago?! lmfao

I think the implication is how much does he have left after this season, which is a fair question. I’d be willing to gamble on a 2 year deal at a reasonable cap hit? Anything more is risky business, IMO.

Trouba is really really bad

What's a reasonable cap hit for a 34 yo PPG Center? Just wondering because some dude in Anaheim just got 18 million for 3 years providing less.

I'd sign Duchene for 3 x 6. I'd be furious if I needed to walk away at 4 x 6 or even x 5

3 years in that range would work well, it would be entirely during Demidov’s ELC years and Anderson and Gallagher are off the books for the last year, so even if he drops off those two won’t be dead weight at that point.

Duchene would be a perfect fit for us. Question is, does he want to play in Canada again?

I think 3 years would be fair term. I mean this past year he was coming off a good year and signed a 1 year deal.

I agree with this but only with Evans

This team doesnt need Dvorak Armia or Savard in the near future. As we saw for the last 2 years. Our defense is horrendous , the problem gotta be with the players at one point. Need to make changes. Carrier was a good move. Gotta fix the Savard and Matheson spot now.
Losing Armia and Evans will be devastating to our penalty kill. I would bring back Armia on a short term friendly contract to play 4th line minutes and kill penalties.

We can’t simply replace Evans and Armia with 20 year old kids and expect to continue to take a step forward.

Obviously i mean why do people find the need to specify that? Obviously if the return for Savard is a 3rd round pick you pass and you keep him even if it means losing him for nothing next summer. CH should have no interest in any pick below the 2nd round as those picks don't have much trade value and we have too many picks already.
Because Dvo you take a bag of pucks. But Evans you want a nice return or else you keep him. Not the same situation.

Jake Allen needs to play 25 more games for the Habs to upgrade from NJ’s 3rd round pick to 2nd round pick. NJ’s second round pick is currently #54 overall.

Markstrom is out long term.

Could Taylor Hall do beter than Newhook with Laine and Dach?

He sure wouldn't cost much:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Laine - Dach - Hall
Armia - Evans - Newhook
Gallagher - Dvo - Anderson

Or Mikael Granlund?

To MTL: Granlund + Ceci
To SJ: Struble + Pez + ?

Dreger apparently said that Evans will re-sign the Habs. Pretty much means Evans is as good as gone. :sarcasm:
Wow he said will , had you asked me I would have had dreger say Evans might sign with the Habs but he might not

On 3rd Line in the first year
We get Crosby at the tdl this year
We get Ehlers in the offseason
While you at it how about getting mcdavid he can play the wing :)
