Would go for ROR before Duchene because of AAV. Unless we can sign him for 2 years at about 6M$ per.

Just go all in on Elias Pettersson.

Have people stopped to wonder how massively f****d we'd be if Suzuki goes down? Our center ice depth is atrocious.

Dach and Newhook can't. As much as i like Beck, he'll never be more than a 3C. And Hage is at least 3 years away. I don't even know what to make of Kapenen.,

Other than that we have nothing else

If we are seller this year i would trade off
Evans + 3rd for a late first
Armia for a 3rd

I would keep Dvorak (our only LHC) and try to sigh him cheap like 3.2mil x 3 years
I Would keep Savard as well sign him 2 more years at around 3 mil

Pettersson is not available. Will take Demidov+ to even make them consider

ROR is a good contract. 2 more years at $4.5M. Lots of teams knock on this door

Nelson is a pure rental at age 33. Probably looking for a deal that overlaps 35+. Also another center contenders inquire about

Gourde is cheaper to acquire and probably cheaper to get him to stay for 2 years. He’s very solid when you look at his production beyond points and his style fits MSL. Call it the Carrier move at forward

Or we wait. Always new names that pop up

I would only sign a center for 2 years max because Hage is coming soon. Giroux could be interesting. 30 pts in 47 games and very good on faceoffs.Nelson could be a possibility.

If I need to overpay for a center the name should be Robert Thomas
If young players like Thomas or Stützle come available, Habs should be all over them. Salary cap is going up by a lot and these Covid-era extensions could be major assets while 14-16 million salaries become general. Of course it will be almost impossible as young centers are the most coveted assets in the league. In HFBoards price starts with Hutson but in real life it's hardly ever what fans expect. At some point miserable teams need to let their young stars go. Meanwhile we sit and wait and listen to perennial shit teams lose their locker room and agents of talented youngsters push for a trade.

Forgot this is a trade proposal thread, not a place for a vague reflections of improbable if-situations. So here's one: Sidney Crosby for both Habs 25 1st round picks and Josh Anderson. Sid loves Habs, it runs in his blood and he can't fight it by trying to be a Penguins legend. He'll always play the second fiddle to Mario. But imagine the heights of his legacy if he made it here? Pittsburgh will honor his wish and we're in for a exciting playoff push.

Count me in on being excited for Olivier. I was a big fan of Deslauriers when he was here….hated to see him go….invaluable player.
They said Olivier perfect fit for Montreal. He's looking for 4m AAV.

They also mentioned cap going up to 97m next season. Could be 105m the next year.

Hilarious how they were saying on the pregame show that the habs seem to have gotten away from playing a completely shit game and only had a few bad periods then they play like this, back to jekyll & hyde hockey .

This lost was bound to happen sooner than later as they we’re not playing good hockey since 3-4 games. No problem and perfectly normal. Happens to every team in the league.

I personally think at some point, Habs will have to be insulate and get help from outside. Heineman will be back but I would welcome an other addition to the group.

  • They won't.
  • Crosby is not leaving the Penguins.

I have a question for you guys about our bottom 6 wingers.

Right now we have Armia, Heineman, Gallagher and Anderson.

Next season, Newhook will drop in the bottom 6 with Demidov taking his spots.

Also imo, Habs should resign Armia as he is a transformed players since his stint in the AHL and plays a big role on our PK and ate 5 vs 5.

Finally, I think Habs have interest in signing Olivier as a UFA this summer.

My question his : how do you think HuGo navigates through this and what you think would be the best outcome for the Habs for next season.

Sign Evans, let Dvorak walk, sign Armia, find a way out from under Gallagher's contract.
