What habs need to finish the season is a better #13 forward (than Pezz) who can step up and help in case of injuries.

Plus a vet-D, a RHD if possible as a #7-#8 d-man.

Seider is one of the best RHD in the league.
LHD are easier to find.

LHD are easier to find.....but LHD or RHD like Hutson are impossible to find.
There's like 5 or 6 other defensemen in that category.

It's a really big hard pass for me......Seider might tremendous as a 2way D, but I take Hutson's creativity and IQ everyday. Hutson is an offensive play driver and it doesn't matter which forward is on the ice with him. He makes everyone around him better offensively and that is worth more than Seider.

Can't move Hudson

I mean we are 7-3 in the games Pezzetta has played, so not exactly a top priority need.

No interest in moving Hutson, even for Seider. He's an elite powerplay quarterback already and he's only been on our 1st unit for a bit over a month...

I can only imagine how insane our powerplay will look when he's in his mid 20's and he has Demidov to work with.

Hutson is from Detroit.

Let's say he wants to go there.
Would you guys do

MTL : Hutson
for
Detroit : Seider
There is no point of making that trade but If I had the choice between Hutson or Seider, I would probably go with Seider. He brings more on the table, especially in the playoffs

Who really knows ? The kid has surpassed already my expectations. He knows darn well how to play vs bigger opponents.
Not to mention his "style" has been successful in the playoffs in recent years. One even has a Conn Smythe.

If Hutson ends up being a top 5 powerplay QB in the league in his prime then he'd be worth his weight in gold in the playoffs. Having hot special teams in the playoffs is the 2nd best thing you can wish for behind a hot goaltender.

Both, physical 2 way Dmen are usually a successful key in the playoffs, more than a small offensive Dmen. Just look at Quinn Hughes last year

Quinn Hughes ? The guy who broke the playoff scoring record by a rookie defenseman after just two rounds ?

Let's frame this the right way as well. We're not talking about a small offensive dman, were talking about a small offensive dman pacing for historic levels of production. When you discuss outliers, you need to evaluate and project under the lens of evaluating an outlier and not simply some average small offensive defenseman, or you end up letting him get picked 62nd.

Reactions: Boss Man Hughes
You don’t trade Hutson for Seider when you have a guy like Reinbacher about to enter the roster.

In a vacuum, I tend to favor players with Seider’s kind of game. But Hutson is so good as a rookie that I’m not sure what I would do.
