At 50% an acquiring team is paying Gallagher 3.25 mil. I doubt anyone would be willing to do that (unless MB can get Blake to take him). Just buy him out.

A trade can still happen if you take back another contract that is over-valued. But what would be the poiint?

Flames 1st, 2nd, and prospect like Mesar for ROR. Not many teams in on ROR will be able to offer a pick from 12-18 range. Maybe the Sens.

I suggested ROR a few days ago, but ….

feel the price will be too high and my gut says ROR's milage is catching up to him. I actually like Gourde as a stop gap.

Yes, this price will be high but that idea is flipping Dach for Nemec and adding ROR to replace Dach as a stop gap for Hage. It's a reach but just an idea

If you add ROR and keep Dach, not sure either of them will be motivated to play 3C. I see a lot of fans considering ROR as a perfect 3C but my gut says he is not used to playing 3rd line minutes. Not sure you get the same value vs him playing 2C minutes.

Unless we plan on having ROR at 2C with Laine/Dach as his wingers?

There's another way of looking at it. Matheson didn't cough up the puck, Laine stuck two fingers down MM's throat with that poor pass.

Matheson could have repaired that play pretty easily and made the dumbest mistakes instead

I like Marino but Utah isn't looking for that and have been spending their capital to improve. Don't think Ryan Smith is going to want to do anything that doesn't propel them forward.

Matheson rushed the puck instead of backing off. Instead of playing the 1v1 they went into a 2v0
pretty stupid play overall. This and literally dumping the puck on the same OT.

He's actually so lost everytime he touches the puck or when he shoots it , he shoots on someone

Jody Shelley was on Kyper yesterday, said Montreal interested in Olivier. Colombus trying to sign him first.

A player that many teams would like to get but Montreal is likely to be selling and not buying. With the recent trade of Necas and Rantanen and Hall, maybe the trade scene will be starting up. For the time being still going with Washington and Vegas in the finals but that could change depending on what they do or don't do and what Florida does or doesn't.

I really like Dach and how he's playing at the moment. I just don't think he's the answer at center long term.

Agreed. I was just gonna start a thread on the main board with the title "Has there ever been a Stanley Cup champion with worse 2C than Dach?", but considering my previous quite similar thread was locked in record time I will wait for a better idea.

But I agree, Dach as 2C isnt the long term answer if the goal is to win the Cup. 1 year more as 2C? Sure. It gets iffier after that.
