Would you trade....

Nick Suzuki
Alex Newhook
Jayden Struble

for

Elias Pettersson
2nd round pick 2025

Personally I think Peterson is gonna bounce back. But I don't think we even know fully what we have in Suzuki yet. I think there's ceiling to go so it's a no for me dog

Now, getting Peterson another way I would be interested in

I’d trade Caufield for Pettersson in the summer.

Suzuki
Pettersson down the middle.

Still have Demidov, Slaf, Laine, Dach, Newhook, Josh Roy to fight for winger spots.

Slaf - Suzuki - Demidov
Dach - Pettersson - Laine
Heineman - Evans - Newhook
Gallagher - Beck - Anderson
Roy

That would be great C depth. With Evans, Beck & Dach able to fill in at C due to injury if needed.

Caufield is a winner.

You don’t trade winners for players like Pettersson who don’t care.

I wonder if we trade for a veteran backup goalie this week or very early in 2025. MSL has clearly lost confidence in Primeau.

I don't think Dobes is the answer at this point. He has missed some time recently and Primeau was actually a better AHL goalie at a younger age than Dobes.

Your top-pairing D and 2nd line C options to acquire this season or this off-season?

Weegar (CGY), Dobson (NYI), and Granlund (SJS) come to mind. Am I out to lunch?

Probably because these guys virtually never make it to free agency.

But adding Dobson this summer would be great.

Andersson is the player to target from Calgary, not Weegar. I see absolutely no reason why NYI would consider trading Dobson, but we should be on it like dog on a bone if they did.

Granlund is more of a winger than a center, no?

Right now I'd take a risk at McTavish or Cozens...if the price was low enough.

OR both...

I'd put both our first on the line for those two. IF they work out we not only have two more 2C but also deeper into their development.

Add Demigod, Hage and Rein...we have the makings of a really good team in a few years.

Yes, before next season I think we need to see the cornerstones in place, and the last critical pieces are a 2C and a top pair RHD along with a 2nd pair RHD. And a starting goalie who is consistent. Could be Dach , Reinbacher, Mailloux and Monty, but maybe not. If Dach doesnt get it going by TDL we need to be open for a 2C and by off season go hunting hard. We were hurt bad with Reinbachers injury as he may still be a few years away and I think we need a top RHD much sooner than that.

To accomplish this we have Matheson, Savard, maybe Evans, maybe one of Reinbacher or Mailloux, and a number of high picks, which could grow if we move the vet players I have listed. There are other guys we will move for maybe 2nd to mid rounders. If its the right guy Hage is a valuable prospect, but a few years away. I hang onto Beck, Florian and Tuch if at all possible.
