Not that I don’t trust, I don’t think he’s that good. Vet D depth always comes in handy. Overall, I’m not impressed with thier D youth outside of Lane, Guhle, and Rein. The rest are all blah.

Not sure how you get from a to b there but if we only want to keep it habs related and the question is to give a recent example, I don't think we have to look too far back. See what has been said in the Laine threads with respect to a contract extension.

You have to give to get but Beck may not need to be included (cost controlled middle six C is very valuable, esp. if Dvorak is let go and Evans signs elsewhere).

Also, if that CGY pick is 11th OA or thereabouts, I would rather make the pick and offer something else.

Dobes needs to play, and the AHL is where that will happen. Hughes is fine, but we risk missing out on a real solution. G have been traded already, and the options are slim. We can't keep playing Monty every game. I also understand you dont think chicago has interest. Keep repeating it. The fact is, we need a proper 2G. We didnt bring in a vet D for nothing. Management wants to see progress and wants to support the kids.

Probably waive Primeau when Fowler signs. Dobes or Hughes called up

We didn’t acquire an anchor contract, the discussion is about a proposed and hypothetical extension. My point is there hasn’t really been the case the Habs have really ever acquired a player who (1) came with great hype and fanfare and (2) had an anchor contract that ever got in the way.

Arpon Basu is like a barnacle. After all these years he’s incredibly bad at his job, I don’t think he even really understands the athletic and sporting dynamics of hockey.

That said, not sure if that’s a bad trade or not. We’ve heard good things about Spacek Jr… hope he is more fit than his father.

Not trading Suzuki for a guy with a larger cap hit and less production than Suzuki

If Pettersson was a 100pt player still, then you can see the upside. But he’s not remotely that guy, and maybe won’t be ever again. So we’re not paying to downgrade.
