I don't believe you can win with such a flawed player as Matheson in your top 4.

I'm sure they'd entertain Schneider or Mancini for Matheson and theres no reasons for us not to do it.
Why would the Rangers, a good team, give up a 19th overall pick playing in the NHL for a flawed player than can't be in the top-4 of a good team?

So a top RD for Matheson? I'd listen if one is available. But you said 'get rid of' - does not sound like you are angling for a value for value deal; if you think Matheson's value is low, then who would give anything good back? I mean if you thought as Caufield for Luke Hughes deal were desirable, would you call that 'getting rid of Caufield'?

And to just give Matheson away is negative because he is better than Struble, Xhekaj, Barron and Mailloux.
I would trade him for anything that fill a need and that's close to fair value. No point in keeping him. The only thing that it does now is slowing the devellopment of kids. Good that MSL finally realized that it's him and not Guhle who should play on his offside. Next step is Hutson on the 1st pp. And If I have to chose between him and Xhekaj for the bottom pairing job, Matheson isn't the one I would choose.

And what’s your impression of Jiricek if you won’t move Mailloux for him?
I think he’s a player who could be better than Mailloux overall but it’s stagnating at the moment. You’d hope a change of scenary, coach and system could snap him out of it and get him back on track but there’s a risk he won’t. Maillloux is on fire and excelling in Laval and you couldn’t ask for more from him.

So while Jiricek MAY be a better overal D in the future and was when drafted, he’s not at the moment and so I wouldn’t risk it for a lateral move. Prefer moving a veteran like Matheson or Savard, Struble, Barron as part of a package for Joricek, but not Mailloux who’s looking like our best RHD prospect at the moment.

Everyone welcome to roast me.. i maintain - we gotta trade CC for equivalent value at RD. Now is the time. Hes off to a strong start, asset management. We will be selecting another legit top 6 pick this year.

Our core is NOT Suzuki and CC. It is infact: Slaf, Demidov, Guhle, hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux.

CC is a nice accessory piece, but he is ridiculously 1 dimensional. He creates nothing. Sorry to all the fans who actually have an affinity or mental attachment.. i on the otherhand could care less - similar to Zito with Huberdeau.

Neither Reinbacher and Mailloux are “core”. They’ve done nothing to show that.

Caufield is more a core piece than either of them.

Ironically, it was Treliving failing to see what he had in Tkachuk at 22-23 (when Tkachuk wanted to sign a long term extension and BT wanted another year to assess) that led to him being available...

And BT betting on an established vet who has absolutely cratered his value since.

I'm happy we have CC locked in long term through his prime at a cap hit he's already earning production/impact wise. If/when he hits his actual prime, it will be a steal of a cap hit... not a piece you trade short of a massive overpayment

One thing is for sure, before we deal 1st round picks for roster players, we need to scout those players better than we did with Dach and Newhook.

💯

They would have been better off using the picks because both newhook and Dach are doing squat.

CC is no more than a wonderful accessory. Similar to Debrincat. Small, soff, point getter, but invisible come playoffs. Accept it. Truth. He creates nothing *ever.

Why on earth shouod Les Glorieux be enamored with a midget one timer? Why?
