You're allowed to be a rebuilding team that isn't getting absolutely killed in 95% of the games. Even management said they want to foster a competitive culture regardless of how many games they win.
So yes, trading insignificant picks when we've accumulated many of them (and will likely have even more) to improve on Evans-Dvorak-Condotta and make these losses more competitive isn't exactly a crazy unprecedented idea. Not to mention that it doesn't prevent us from trading Eller again at the deadline.
I think we can all agree on the fact that this current group of players is lacking some veterant/leadership. And I think that trading 3rd pick isn't a high price to acquire that type of help.
The problem I have here is that Eller is not what MTL needs. What this team needs is a Crosby, O'Reilley, Weber, guys that have top notch work ethic, no quit in their game and can be vocal and authoritative in the locker room. Eller isn't much of an improvement over Dvorak TBH.
Problem is that the Weber type of guys are hard to find at this time of the season... so lets KH do his job and let him get the "good fit"
