The deadline used to be decent on TSN. I remember back when i joined this board some people here would call sick at work just to watch the deadline and chill on HF....well when it was up because back then the servers had a really hard time on deadline day . There was some good action usually

But it has been going downhill for years now. In fact the biggest deals often happen a couple of days before the deadlinei n this era. Not sure which year it was but it was a few years ago both TSN and RDS had their deadline day special start at 6ham and nothing happened until 11ham. Bobby Mac , Dreger etc were bored to death lol.

The trade deadline used to be good TV. But now it's just incredibly bland
I think I stopped watching a couple of years after we got Vanek. I distinctly remember spending more time on here discussing our Ott type acquisitions.

I just want to unload this though and then go away…..

Please don’t trade David Savard. He is a great guy, a great Dman, a great influence in the locker room, and a great partner on the rink. Look at how much better Xhekaj is playing with him as a partner.

Don’t do it smart people making big decisions. Trade Josh, Allen, or Tanner instead.

Thanks for listening. I feel better now….

We are trading Savard not Raymond Bourque.

Obviously Bourgeault is a no no he's struggling in the AHL. Lavoie is not a prospect anymore.

But you aint getting a grade A prospect for Savard.
Be that as it may, I doubt they'd part with Holloway or Broberg for Savard and he's still serviceable and tradeable next year. Why would MTL trade him for a 2nd and a 4th:

It's not like we have to move him or lose him for nothing as a UFA so....let's wait for the desperate offers...

Matvei Petrov if you're dealing with Edmonton.

Struggled this year, his first year in the A. He's got skills though, size and he's Russian, so could assist in future Russians with coming over.

You are assuming there would only be one component to the deal.
Hughes thinks outside the box so a retained Savard + might net something very good.

Assuming that there would be retention (and I doubt he'd be moved without), then the 2nd asking price makes sense and I doubt he moves off of it. He can always make a different type of Allen trade in the offseason (especially when another retention slot opens up).

He'll also have more suitors in the off-season IF he doesn't move him by Friday.

Next year should be an interesting year: Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Allen, and Evans are in the final year of their deals. So if they're not moved by Friday or off-season, you imagine they will by next TDL.

Avs hade made good moves so far but without an improvement at the goaltender position it likely won't be enough.

And they actually created cap room with their moves earlier today.

I'd be very surprised if Hughes retained on Anderson for the rest of this season and for 3 more seasons after. Hopefully this was just a terrible season for Anderson and he plays better next season.
My take on Anderson is that he has incredibly low hockey IQ. He doesn’t anticipate and he’s a one trick pony. Loves to skate fast…. Zoom zoom.

But with Marty coaching a less structured game focused more on reading the ‘game’ , I think Anderson is falling behind
