Gauthier seems like an obvious waiver addition unless they have some specific character issue with him...

CGY 1st, WPG 1st, + one of Harris/Barron for Zegras

Roll out

Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky/Zegras
Newhook - Dach - Slafkovsky/Zegras

next year

Two late 1sts and a decent young Dman. Not enough for Z even if he is the most overrated player in the league :D

With all the Zegras trade proposals, and him being voted the most overrated, here is what Strome had to say:

Strome seems to miss the reality that $ numbers don't lie either... to put up those stats and still have a GM prefer a bridge deal to a long term extension tells a certain story as well (of course, that story could be that Verbeek is an idiot a la Bergevin, but from afar, this player seems like a bigger ? to push into the next tier than PK did)

You guys have to know that Zegras isn't worth all that.. and even if he was.. Kent Hughes and Gorton are not gonna have any interest in the guy.

We've got a pretty good idea of what they like by now.

He's one of the more hyped guys to get taken in the first round in 2019. That's basically HuGo crack.

But seriously, I think they'd definitely have interest, I just don't think its as much interest as to pay what the Ducks would want.

Engels was hinting at Habs trading their top 10 for him. I'd be more pissed if we gave that pick.

If we're think about the same Q & A, then I think you may have interpreted it very differently than was intended, because I struggle to see how it could be seen as being 'hinted'.

It also doesn't really match their MO. They're fine giving up futures for young guys, but they tend to do it conjunction with drafting high.

I’d definitely try the offer sheet route for Pettersson.

With our excess of picks, I think we can spare our 1sts from 2025 to 2028.

We get a last solid prospect with our pick this summer (ideally one of Celebrini, Demidov or Lindstrom) and we shove the offer sheet to Pettersson.

There. Rebuild is over.

He'd have to sign it & there's no reason to doubt the Nucks are going to back the brinks truck up for him... That offer sheet would have to be at a crippling cap hit to get him, which would piss off not just the nucks but every GM & owner in the league... doubt there's any chance KH goes that route

Yeah I don't think that they'll throw an offer sheet that huge

Depends on who is there when we pick. In my mind there are only 3 first line forwards in this draft in Celebrini, Lindstrom and Demidov.

So then the debate is do you want to draft and wait for a potential 2nd line forward like Iginla to come in 2 years or do you just trade for Zegras now.

Yeah, it went so well the last time they tried that...

Wonder if Philly will be selling or trying to get a golie. I'd love to pull off an Allen+ for Cates trade.
