Hughes should also be driving home that Monahan has been producing while playing with slugs for line mates.
Not really, except of Suzuki, all future pieces need couple season to establish themselves as impact players in NHL. Caufield and Guhle are close. Slaf, Dach&Newhook (due to injuries), Roy, Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux they all need couple more years. You can add Struble, Xhekaj, Beck, Mesar.Agreed
Need players now , not in 3 year's
You can always sign a veteran D to help stabilize the defensive if Barron doesnt take another step and Mailloux is not ready. I am pretty confident in a 3rd pair of Xhekaj-Mailloux. Nxt season is still a learning season IMO I dont expect the playoff next year but in two season we have to be or atleast fight for a playoff spot
I think it takes a bigger asset than either of those 2.What would we need to add you think?
Max I would go would be 1st protected top 5 and Struble for Zegras
Yes a first and more for Monahan. Technically, he re-signed with the Habs, so will see. Can the Habs do a complete rebuild with Monahan?I cannot wait to see what Money can fetch. He is literally the perfect player I would want in a cup run if I was any GM. It's crazy that we got him to take salary, he became valuable again and now we could see a huge return.
Chevy says no-me-wont-spend and the Avalanche will try to dump Johansen while having only a 1st and an empty cupboard at forwards to trade (it's basically Calum Ritchie and a bunch of C- prospects). From Lebrun
"Sean Monahan now goes to the top of the list of available centers who are pending unrestricted free agents. And Hughes has plenty of time between now and March 8 to work the market his way. As I wrote earlier this week, if I’m Montreal, I’m certainly trying to work the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche against each other and create a Central Division arms race. Both clubs, I believe, have interest in adding a 2C. The New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and several other playoff-bound clubs also make sense."
Monahan and a 3rd pick for Kakko
1st rd pick top 5 protected for Zegras
Kovacevic for a 3rd pick
Ylonen for whatever
next season
Newhook-Suzuki-Dach
Caufield-Zegras-Slafkovsky
Roy-Dvorak-Kakko
Heineman-Evans-Gallagher
Pezzeta
Matheson-Savard
Guhle-Barron
Xhekaj/Stuble-Mailloux
Hutson-Reinbacher first D pair in Laval
then he gets hurt and all this is for zip
ok...Well that's part of the game.
There's nothing that can be done about that. He could even get injured just by taking part in practices.
Scratching Monahan a month before he potentially gets dealt makes him unhappy, makes his teammates unhappy, makes the interested teams unhappy, and it lowers his trade value.
I don't think it would be suspicious, not to mention that the other team can ask for proof that he isn't. Hughes won't ruin his relationship with all those GMs by trying to pull a fast one by trading an injured Monahan. Still, no teams would sit their player this far ahead from the deadline unless a deal was in place.Sit him - given his history, it might make the buyer suspicious of a nagging injury.
I’m expecting those teams who lost out on Lindholm to be active with Hughes right now. So there is a chance there might be enough headway made while the Habs are not playing.ok...
let's see how it turns out.
could be... just want the best for the CH...I’m expecting those teams who lost out on Lindholm to be active with Hughes right now. So there is a chance there might be enough headway made while the Habs are not playing.
I know you’ve been a proponent of a deal with the Peg but I don’t know how much Chevaldayoff has interest if at all.could be... just want the best for the CH...
ya maybe not..I know you’ve been a proponent of a deal with the Peg but I don’t know how much Chevaldayoff has interest if at all.
Even the ones who post on this site?ya maybe not..
I like the peg... always have. want them to do well. their fans in Winnipeg deserve this.
Dvorak for Bystedt+
How can you not like the Pens?ya maybe not..

Who are the 3rd liners in the system? Heineman? Kakko's athleticism, size and defensive game would be way better suited on the 3rd line compared to what Mesar and Farrell would bring there. As long as we stay clear of Zegras or Kakko I’ll be happy. We have enough third liners in our system, we don’t actually need to trade for them. Zegras is not a complete player and already earning 5.7 and he’ll bolt the second he turns UFA. We need to concentrate on top 6 forwards NHL ready and ones with better upside and who will gel with our team.

Not Jets posters.Yup

They hate us over there, don’t know about that.Yup

Pass on the trade for Zegras and not adding a pick and honestly would rather trade Monahan for futures.Monahan and a 3rd pick for Kakko

Armia isn't getting traded. Allen likely isn't either. Savard would be a really nice return but doubt he's dealt, unless a team becomes desperate.Deadline trade list:
Monahan
Pearson
Allen
Savard
Armia
Anyone else ?
Easy pass for the Habs.To NYR: Josh Anderson 50% retained
To MTL: Kakko
I think it takes a bigger asset than either of those 2.
I'll believe it when i see it lmfao , reasonable is certainly not how i would describe itA 1st and Lambert for Monahan and a small plus is reasonable.
