Not really, except of Suzuki, all future pieces need couple season to establish themselves as impact players in NHL. Caufield and Guhle are close. Slaf, Dach&Newhook (due to injuries), Roy, Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux they all need couple more years. You can add Struble, Xhekaj, Beck, Mesar.
This year is stacked with D, which gives us good chance to land top offensive talent with top7 pick- Demidov, Lindstrom, Eiserman.

The issue defensively isn't necessarily on defence, its at forward.

I'm not trying to knock Zegras, but committing what will likely be a 6-10 OA pick to a guy already getting paid and who has serious question marks defensively and as center going forward when you already have young guys who haven't been great defensively seems like a pretty big misstep given where the team is at.

Yes a first and more for Monahan. Technically, he re-signed with the Habs, so will see. Can the Habs do a complete rebuild with Monahan?

Chevy says no-me-wont-spend and the Avalanche will try to dump Johansen while having only a 1st and an empty cupboard at forwards to trade (it's basically Calum Ritchie and a bunch of C- prospects).

Boston aren't any better than the Avalanche.
Rangers apparently don't want to trade with the Habs.

Might be better to look toward the wildcard teams like the Blues, Oilers or Carolina...

Top 10 protected for Z, & add a 2nd tier prospect if they take Dvo back

Kovacevic for a 3rd... Meh. We already have 2x3rd & he's useful as 6-7 RHD. Wouldn't move him unless it's a better offer or part of package

Ditto Ylonen. Might as we QO him and let him battle for spot at camp unless we're getting a better fit in a swap

What happened to Armia & RHP?

Doubt Habs would play Zegras at C over Dach...

Well that's part of the game.
There's nothing that can be done about that. He could even get injured just by taking part in practices.

Scratching Monahan a month before he potentially gets dealt makes him unhappy, makes his teammates unhappy, makes the interested teams unhappy, and it lowers his trade value.

I don't think it would be suspicious, not to mention that the other team can ask for proof that he isn't. Hughes won't ruin his relationship with all those GMs by trying to pull a fast one by trading an injured Monahan. Still, no teams would sit their player this far ahead from the deadline unless a deal was in place.
 
As long as we stay clear of Zegras or Kakko I’ll be happy. We have enough third liners in our system, we don’t actually need to trade for them. Zegras is not a complete player and already earning 5.7 and he’ll bolt the second he turns UFA. We need to concentrate on top 6 forwards NHL ready and ones with better upside and who will gel with our team.

The common excuse to hate them because they drafted high is stupid. It's with the Nucks my favorite 2nd team.

Who are the 3rd liners in the system? Heineman? Kakko's athleticism, size and defensive game would be way better suited on the 3rd line compared to what Mesar and Farrell would bring there.

Pass on the trade for Zegras and not adding a pick and honestly would rather trade Monahan for futures.

Armia isn't getting traded. Allen likely isn't either. Savard would be a really nice return but doubt he's dealt, unless a team becomes desperate.

Twitter has become unbearable with Habs fans posting ludicrous Monahan fake trades vs other team fans tearing Monahan to shreds.

Ultimately, we’re bound to see this when the dust settles:
