I'm out on re-signing Monahan.

Gallagher is bad enough. We can't give term to guys who are entering their 30s with a lengthy injury history.

But,

Gallagher's game was based off of effort and physical gifts such as shot reflex, Monahan's game is based off of IQ which ages better.

e.g. Markov.

The rumour is that their GM, Drury, is cheap. He's not willing to give up a 1st or a good prospect to improve his team's odds in the playoffs.
Vince Mercogliano was Marek show today said odds are slim Monahan goes to Rangers. Cites the issues between the front offices as reason. It would take huge overpayment for Rangers to get Monahan and Drury won't go there.

No to re-signing Monahan it was a great trade from Hughes and hopefully he stays healthy until trade deadline so we can trade him but thats it his body is done hes been skipping practices for therapy days all year long it would be a horrible mistake specially since he wont sign for a year or 2

It would be beyond silly if Jeff Gorton, who's not even the GM, holds a grudge and makes the Rangers overpay compare to other teams

Insiders have been saying the Canucks want to move cap dumps since the off season. It haven't happened because they want to be paid to move players, not pay to move them.

Vancouver is actually in a position to compete now. They couldn’t say that at the start of the season. Guess we’ll see.

Thanks for the heads up.

Says Rangers are looking to Lindholm and Henrique as targets, as their 3rd line has been a black hole.

The bad blood between Gorton and NYR’s management is real and is what would cause the Rags to have to pay a premium to get a deal done — which will incite them to look elsewhere first. Friedman had said as much on HNIC’s intermission last Saturday, about how the two orgs hate each other.

This sounds really silly and petty and is uselessly depriving the Habs of a trading partner. Gorton’s vendetta is personal to him and for the benefit of management, he should be looking to bury the ax and not perpetuate artificial barriers that could impact the Habs’ operations.

From what I understand, Drury double crossed Gorton in order to get the GM job but Gorton has since landed on his feet and done well for himself. Perhaps Geoff should have a word, if in fact, what both of of these mainstream types are asserting, checks out.

Monahan should not fetch anything near that but it should make him a far more enticing option.

Just for conversation sakes, Monahan has more points, at a lower salary......better at Face offs too.....
Interesting eh.......

Thanks for the heads up.

Jeff Marek is maybe the dumbest of dumb out there...................I would trust him as much a Kypreos.

It feels disingenuous to call it a vendetta when from what we've seen on the topic its not one-sided.

Except that in Marek’s interview, the info is coming from Mercogliano. But to your point, Marek doesn’t come across as the sharpest tool in the shed.

First time I hear this Mercogliano guy ... says they will be "very aggressive" but he also says they won't give up a first round pick.

Lindholm and Monahan will not go for a 2nd (personal opinion). And henrique as well. I would expect a first + for all three.

Feels like the Rangers have been in win-now mode for 10 years, they always make moves but they never really work
