Huberdeau turned Dadonov into a 70pts player Kent should call the Flames and see if we can get another 1st from them.

No. Habs do not need centres. Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak (currently) Evans, Beck, 2023 1st. They need wingers because most of the guy that need to be moved are wingers.

We have guys like Farrell who are arriving around april and Heineman who's pretty close to be.

Sorry they’ve proven what? You and blind faith man
Holy Christ

I guess the habs can do what they always done and don't change a thing, no rebuild just a re-tool, developping no players and just pay UFAs to come here and ice a mediocre team forever. At least you'll have your ''proven'' players.

They can give all their picks too, all non-proven players. What are we gonna do with these!

Hurbedeau isn’t a different stratosphere than Gallagher and Anderson even when he’s 35 he will be better
So weird that tha Crosby can still play greet hockey at 35 but Hurbedeau will be a useless tit
Hurbedeau will give you 5 good years

How many 35 year olds in the NHL are worth 8 figures? Or even close to that? It's basically just Crosby, Malkin and Bergeron. Huberdeau isn't in that class. Or all that close.

Sorry as a habs fan you all are wrong on Dubois assets

Its gonna cost us guhle suzuki.

Dubois is a perrenial star that plays on canadas Olympic team. Suzuki is not on his level

Only thing you are right about is that Suzuki & Dubois are not on the same level... Suzuki is a year younger and already the far superior hockey player.

Huberdeau is already 29. By the time all the key players hit their stride, he may be in decline. That’s a tricky age. I’d be very hesitant to go for him at this stage of the rebuild

Dubois is a lesser player, but he fits the timeline
An elite player like Huberdeau can help accelerate the development of our younger core. Just imagine how much better they’ll become, playing with someone of that calibre.

Also, there is no waiting line of high upside players open to or wishing to play for the Habs after Huberdeau and Dubois. You miss out on those guys and your next shot might only be Aho, if he wants to return the Habs a favor.

Sorry what??
Hurbedeau will be signed at 30 not 35 so your lost makes zero sense unless you truly believe he’s done right now
35 is 5 years away when the cap will sky rocket
And btw , Hurbedeau right now is better than malkin and Bergeron cuz Of age

If you want Huberdeau, your going to have to sign him until he's 37/38. He's also not better than Bergeron because Huberdeau can't play defense and there's no better defensive forward in the NHL than Bergeron.

The point for the Habs is that they need to start looking beyond next season.

I'm relieved PLD accepted his QO. For one , things should quiet down on this frothing at the mouth forum.

Now I think Hughes was just not prepared to pay what the Jets wanted, but it makes it certain we aren't paying some ludicrous price for this good but not great 2C.

Importantly, we carry on and hopefully hit a top 5 pick at next years draft. We also keep those assets that might have gone for PLD in case HUGO want to use them at the next draft.

There are good players on the Jets, PLD has it in his hands on the points he can produce. Amazing to me people want to throw $9M plus on a barely 60 point guy. Don't mind paying a guy, but he has to merit it.

Anyway, worked out well.

And what happens when Huberdeau is in his mid 30s and his game goes the way of every mid 30s offensive forward save for Ovechkin?

Montreal already has a lot of money tied up in veterans with declining games, locking the teams upside to an also-ran for the next decade seems pretty shortsighted.

Jeff Hamilton has said habs are trying to get Dubois. On radio he said same thing.

All I said is that he has been their best insider this season. He has gotten all the reports accurate.

He has said price is contemplating retirement and he thinks helly has been discussed.

On his Twitter, he "wonders" if Hellebucyk would be of interest to Montreal. It sounds like he's shooting the shit (speculating) & has no real intel.

Gorton is on record about how this will not be a drawn out rebuild. We don’t have disposable quality depth to acquire elite offensive talent and very little of it wants to play here.

It won’t be perfect but if that’s the best available to us and won’t cost assets then it’ll fall in line with the turnaround contemplated by management, shortsighted, longsighted, blind or whatever morosity you want to label it with.

Suzuki is making 8
I guess he better get way more than 60 pts are your post will make zero sense

That’s 5 years away man
The cap is gonna go up
You’re worried about 5 years away

I'm worried about next year. Come on, the Habs just had on of the worst seasons in Franchise history and you think the guy that was the 2nd best player on the Florida Panthers, who have made the playoffs 3 times in his 10 year career, is going to make Montreal a contender?

It's going to take at least another offseason or 3 to clean up Bergevin's cap mess.

Who cares about them. He’s a 100+ point player. You deal with it if it happens.

Not being a drawn out rebuild doesn't mean spending non existent cap space in free agency. Everything costs assets. You can't possibly look at the cap trades made this offseason and think otherwise.
