We should not laugh at any fan base for overrating our prospect because we are really good at this us to ..
I really don’t think this a more prevalent in any particular fanbase more than it’s just an HFBoards thing in general.

I talk to family, friends, coworkers etc about hockey but this place has a very unique identity like no where else in overrating their assets, especially prospects.

Tarasenko’s game is falling like a rock. After 3 consecutive 70-75 pt seasons, he’s accumulated a measly 86 pts over his past 109 games.

I’d make a push, but wouldn’t break the bank for him at this point.

From .85 ppg to .80 ppg. What a bum!!

Well any way you slice it, if valuing him as a true superstar or a PPG player in trade, you’ll likely get burned.

Last season and this season, he has been much poorer than he’s been previously.

He’s playing on a demoralized and underachieving team for a myriad or coaches. Let him settle into a system and enjoy him entering the prime of his career!

I don’t necessarily disagree. And I’d love to have him. I’m just thinking that if he’s going to cost what a 40+ goal scorer and PPG player costs, we would get burned on value.

I know most people would be opposed to it due to age, but how would Duncan Keith fit next to Weber? Chicago is going down hill and I feel like the price wouldn't be too high.

4 years left on the contract after this year is a bit scary at his age, if we did not already have a LD making 4.6m in Laval I would be more open to it. No way I give up a 1st rounder for him but if I could get him for

1) Alzner
2)Armia or lehkonen and Evans or Hudon (basically give up one of armia or lehkonen and Hudon or a prospect so 2 aseets total but not both Armia and Lehkonen
3) 2nd round pick

Obviously willing to pay more with Alzner in there. At this point Hawks prospect cupboard is getting bare and maybe quanity could get it done. May have to take back a worthless minor leaguer to balance out # contracts for the hawks. This is less about cap relief for hawks than it is about adding some young pieces

They cost that much because they’re in such high demand because there’s so few or them. Look, not every team can afford these players but they change the basic makeup of any team. Now other teams have to game plan for him and leave other players to lesser defensive checkers and opening them up for more offence. It’s a trickle down effect that benefits the entire team. It also gives us the offensive game breaker we’ve been looking for and takes weight off the D and rest of the team.

There’s very little downside if any at all. Even if it doesn’t work out, these players incredibly easy to trade.

-Suter no chance and too old
-Gardiner don't want him
-Heiskanen no chance
-Murray i like murray this year, but would be overpaying if we trade for him
-Keith nope
-Matheson no chance
-Nutivaara possible choice
-Muzzin possible choice
-Goligoski too old for me
-Nurse Not high on him
-Dun possible choice
-Martinez not interested
-Sanheim no way Phily deal him
-Fowler im high on Fowler, possible choice
-Butcher possible choice, but cost wise would be too high, I tried some proposals for him but the price was steep
-Skjei possible choice, low value atm
-Edler too old for me
-Maatta too slow, cost wise though would be really low and logical to go with Maatta and work hard on his edge+ speed
-Brodin meh, im 50/50 on Brodin, he won't score more than 25p
-Edmundson IM HIGH on him, but no chance the blues deal him
-Dermott 50/50 - not too sure of his worth because Toronto over value him way too much. more D oriented though
-Vlasic ideal choice to be frank, but a tad too old and costly. SJ needs to deal a D (KAR/BURNS/VLASIC)
-Leddy price would be too high, but it would fit well with Weber
-Scandella not high on him this year, he is french and would be a smaller bet to take if we really need a LHD
-Zadorov I would love Zadorov, big D physical guy to go with Weber, but not a playmaker
-Hickey don't know much about Hickey playstyle, a tad too old for me though
-Hjalmarsson no way Ari deals him and too old
-Bouwmeester too old and bad this year
-Chychrun no way Ari deals him, but im high on him
-Kylington I don't know enough about Kyl
-Valimaki CAL doesn't want to deal him, I tried a bunch if proposals
-Phaneuf nope..
-Mahura I tried on ANA board, they would deal Fowler before him
-Bean my perfect piece, go look my proposal, it's good imo
-Niku hmm, you had my curiosity now you have my attention. I didn't know him
-Fleury also high on him, would prefer Bean

LOVE your list, I tried to put my Logical and Legit top 5 with small explanation on each player:

1. Bean (available)
2. Fowler ( LOVE fowler and would fit 100%, but it would be hard to deal him)
3. Skjei ( not the highest cost this year and still a nice ceiling to achieve)
4. Leddy or Maatta ( for Maatta, if we could work hard on his speed and edge he would fit well for a low price)
5. Muzzin ( available)

Honorable
Mention to Butcher, Mahura and Dun ( love all of them but the price is high)

I think it's possible to acquire Bean. Canes are clearly looking for help up front and are set on D. Bean is at the point where he is just figuring out the AHL and better to buy now before he is a rising stock.

I wonder if they would bite on Evans and Mete for Bean. Evans could be the type of center they would like to add to the system and he is very close to NHL ready at the age of 22

...you do realize that there's a type of D Montreal needs beyond left handed? There's a notable differenct between guys like Muzzin, guys like Leddy, Skjei and Fowler, guys like Bean and guys like Maatta.
