Confirmed with Link: Trade: Pierre-Luc Dubois to Washington for Darcy Kuemper… the trade is one for one

Definitely something I didn’t expect is Dubois being the center that seems most trusted against opponents top players. I’ve seen people say he wants to be trusted in those situations, and it feels like the Caps staff is giving him that opportunity and it’s been paying off. I agree, it’s not all about the points (they’ll come), It’s about having more good things happen when you’re on the ice than bad, and I feel like most of the time he’s on the ice good things are happening.
And even given those tough assignments, he has a 60.5% xG share. Good for 5th best on the team. He’s a been a huge part of dealing with guys like MacK, Eichel, and Barkov that we’ve shut down and beat.

I'd prefer to see him celebrating a goal when he was on the ice (rough -3 for him last night), but I always love when they're mic'ed.

I wish they'd release full game video with the players' audio overlayed.

Carbery, and the team, have created such a great environment for guys like PLD to thrive. Such a cool story.

There are games, like Wednesday, where he looks like the best guy on the ice - with the ability to take over games. Maybe the physicality and OT winner will spark him on a heater.

This can’t be true. I’ve been led to believe that professional athletes are robots and that interpersonal relationships and a sense of feeling appreciated don’t matter and shouldn’t affect their performance because they make a lot of money. Forget that these are young adults, sometimes even teenagers or guys not old enough to buy beer… they are professional athletes and should perform at the highest standard in any situation.

Lets be real, BMac/GMCP took a risk. If he didn't pan out here like in LA, that contract would have looked awful and they would have been the subject of a million internet itoldyaso's. The fact that he's earning his contract and at times our best player on the ice, when we're winning a lot, is just awesome! Kudos to the GM office, to Carbs and especially to PLD. Perfect fit and exactly what we needed! Exactly!

Being afraid of being criticized if a move doesn't work out is a terrible reason not to do it, no one in hockey media understands risk management especially now that all the ones that did left twitter, but if you buy capfriendly internet criticism probably isn't a concern to begin with

I hope he rides this heater into the playoffs and it leads to some playoff success, it will make bumping that thread on the main boards even more hilarious.

Very good listen, with a lot of insight into our culture and some of his past issues. Also good nuggets on Torts.

enjoyed that, never heard it before

nobody likes or offers excuses, but you think about his rep for not caring, and then listen to the story about covid times while being traded from columbus to winnipeg ... sounds dam rough ... no wonder he was what he was at that time

think he is going great ... a top 6 C for scraps is hard to find
