Just wait it out, the sellers will have a high initial asking price but the longer they go without dealing a player, the more they begin to get anxious as well. It's all a big game of poker.

Not worried one bit about not landing Purcell.

I still think if there is a deal to be made, it could be for someone like Parenteau and/or Hunwick.

At the rink tonight to have a live look at Amadio. Very interested to see how he looks.
 
As I've been saying, Kings need to be smart about their asset management, the prices for this rentals is too high , they're all mediocre/average players at best available IMO. A high pick+prospect for Kris freaking Russel is not worth it to me.

If there's a deal that makes sense price wise and roster wise, I'm sure Dean will do it, management seems to do their homework.

If it's really true that we were interested in Justin Schultz and lost out on him, it's the best news of the deadline.

Anyway, others are not waiting for deadline day. Ladd, Hudler & Purcell are gone. Let's move now.

LOS ANGELES KINGS

Despite the various problems this year the Kings have the 5th best (based on percentage) record in the league. No one wants to play the Kings in the playoffs.

And already there is grousing about the high prices paid for the rentals and relief expressed when ones team doesn't make that trade.

The guys that will help beat the Hawks are already on the roster. King has more playoff goals than Ladd does. If they're not getting it from Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Carter, Toffoli, Muzzin, Lucic, something from Gaborik, then they're not going to beat the Hawks anyway. Plus you have to get a big goal from Martinez, or a big series from King, or Brown to do something.

If Lombardi can't get someone who can do a lot, then he'll get someone that does something more specific. Someone that adds in a little something to the team. A guy that's fast, or a right shot on defense, or a guy that doesn't have a Cup, etc. Someone that fills a role.

I'm thinking his problem is that he wants a promise of being in the NHL and not the AHL. And I'm sure the Kings aren't willing to give that.
I know he's said he wants to come but it seems like it's one thing after another with him.
 
Hamhuis/Vrbata is still the way to go. Its been the way. Kempe going the other way is what it will take unfortunately. But its what this team needs to keep up in the arms race.
