Ladd and Little were underrated. LLW was a really solid top line. Scheifele was 21 and put up 49 points getting 2nd line minutes and on the 2nd powerplay unit...probably a more complete two-way player then than he's been in the last month or so this season. Perreault, Frolik, Kane (then Stafford) Buff, Enstrom, Trouba (plus after the Kane trade: Myers). Depth up and down the lineup. The whole team played well by any metric you want to look at.This team has way more talent than 2014-15. Buff was the only real star at the time. Wheeler hadn't broken out yet. Little and Ladd are far below Scheifele, Connor, PLD and Ehlers. And Pavs isn't even in the stratosphere as Helly.
Up to the All-Star break, Hutchinson was playing the best hockey of his career, while Pavelec was Pavelec (up to the end of February, Pavs was a .909 with -4.44 GSAA...40th in the league). But then in March, Pavelec miraculously went on the tear of his life. For the last 14 games of the season he was the best goalie in the league: .944, 11.62 GSAA. In the Zone. Lights out. Then in the playoffs he regressed to his below average mean and the Jets were done. That team with Hellebuyck had the depth and skill to go deep...
