Not going to lie, i enjoy seeing the Pens ship out young talent.
But, Crosby/Malkin/Kesler is pretty scary center depth...
honestly, it hasn't really bit them in the butt. they always get the better player in those trades.
Iginla for Agostino, Hanowski, 1st (Morgan Klimchuk)
Zbynek Michalek for Cheverie, Ruopp, 3rd (Oskar Sundqvist) wtf?
Ponikarovsky for Caputi, Skoula
Leopold for 2nd (Connor Brickley)
Guerin for random picks
Hossa. Dupuis for Amstrong, Erik "Christ Almighty" Christensen, Esposito, 1st (Daultan Leveille)
Gary Roberts for Noah Welch
Jussi Jokinen for just a conditional pick?
Vokoun for a 7th
and when they traded their "star?"
Staal for Sutter, Pouliot, Dumoulin.
Goligoski for Neal and Niskanen
Ryan Whitney for Kunitz & Tangradi
who have they traded away that really amounted to anything? You can make a case that they blew a bunch of assets in those trades but they did win a Stanley Cup in all of that and they are always contenders so it's not like Sather blowing assets when we don't have nearly as good of a chance.
