As I pointed out, with a link, above, you need a ton of picks to end up with a handful of NHL players. Not even star players, but just garden variety everyday players. You do not have to flip them again if you are in rebuild mode. Although you have that flexibility if you want to.I think they could a minor mix still. If it's Carolina, a 2026 1st + Nadeau/Blake is still a good offer that I would take.
Yeah, we have a gluttony of draft picks but as we saw with Utah, you can easily parlay them into roster players. I don't think next year should be any different than this year so I think there will additional opportunities to do the same thing.
But if you have a gluttony of picks, you can target a team that wants to add a big player or more depth or maybe even for a guy who is getting caught in the log jam such as Nemec or Clarke.
Flipping prospects and picks is for when you are ready to legitimately compete with a young, cheap talented core. The Pens are years from that place.
