I think they could a minor mix still. If it's Carolina, a 2026 1st + Nadeau/Blake is still a good offer that I would take.

Yeah, we have a gluttony of draft picks but as we saw with Utah, you can easily parlay them into roster players. I don't think next year should be any different than this year so I think there will additional opportunities to do the same thing.

But if you have a gluttony of picks, you can target a team that wants to add a big player or more depth or maybe even for a guy who is getting caught in the log jam such as Nemec or Clarke.
As I pointed out, with a link, above, you need a ton of picks to end up with a handful of NHL players. Not even star players, but just garden variety everyday players. You do not have to flip them again if you are in rebuild mode. Although you have that flexibility if you want to.

Flipping prospects and picks is for when you are ready to legitimately compete with a young, cheap talented core. The Pens are years from that place.

Really got me sittin' here waiting to see if the team can take advantage of a 32 year old having a career year in a market where GMs are being insane, just for Dubas to say some shit like "It's important that Sid still has his winger, the prices just didn't meet our demand" at the presser later.
I mean, I'm happy we got rid of Beauvellier and didn't put Schenn on the roster, but I'd still like to hope there's more coming, ya know?

someone should try blowing into the cartridge.
Brother if HFboards was a NES cartridge it'd be this f***in' thing

Targeting a good value contract in Rakell after getting snubbed on two UFAs seems cautiously reasonable for Carolina.

I just don't think after getting burned twice that they will be willing to give up any of the ponies we would want. Stankoven, Blake, Nadeau, Morrow...their 1sts...it's just not their MO.

Colorado for a UFA who turned down a 7.5 x 3 deal

Gave a pretty good deal.

If Rakell at 5 for 2 more years doesn't get a Pony from them. I am not doing it.

If Tulsky thinks that Rakell can keep up the pace, he would probably be willing to pay a premium for the cost control at a reasonable number, especially since they aren't a cap team.

He’s not getting “overwhelming “ for Rakell…Rak is a really good player on a very good contract but he’s not a star, not elite and not in the top 30 point getters…if he’s really looking to be blown away, then Rak won’t move and a good chance Dubas will blow it lol
Blow what? Today doesn't mean he can't trade him in the summer or next deadline 🤷

Happy with everything we've done so far. Want more.

Karlsson out would be huge, probably unlikely at this juncture. Dallas is obviously out of bullets in the gun for that one at least.

Gryzlyck, Acciari, maybe Glass hopefully out as well for 2-5th round picks.

Yeah, I don't mean to downplay his work from the Petts deal through now, but I still kinda feel like the only thing he has to do today is deal Rakell for the best package out there. Perfect is the enemy of good and all that.

The Petts deal, the Beau deal, the Bunting deal, flipping Luke Schenn so I don't have to watch the reincarnation of Jack Johnson, etc. have all been nice work. But yeah, Rakell out, please.

With the added advantage of such moves helping the tank effort.

Didn't EK65 get traded at a deadline near the 3PM mark?

Sure but the value is now…if he gets an offer of two first round picks for him for example, or a first and very good prospect, he should take the bird in the hand instead of thinking another deal will materialize down the road that’s better…for all we know Rak will blow out his knee tonight lol
