Not to sound like a brute but I hope Savoie isn't targeted. I'm tired of 5'9" Penguins hockey.

I am probably keeping Rakell for next season if the best offer I can get is Savoie and a 2nd. No more midgets, I’ve had enough.

I'd understand this more if the Penguins had a lot of small guys in their prospect pool, but they don't really have that. Pretty much all of their top prospects have decent size or better.

I'm concerned that Savoie's size may hurt his effectiveness as a NHLer, but I'm not turning down Cole Caulfield because he's 5'8". If Savoie can be a good NHLer, I'm taking him every day of the week. I'm just not 100% sold on that.

This is especially true because they're going to be in a prime position to get Martone at the draft, who's another big winger.

I’d be 100% fine with Savoie being the main piece in a deal for Rakell. He has high upside and has been hot in the AHL after starting slow.

*As long as Sully is gone to not ruin him by trying to turn him into a midget PKer ala Brian Gibbons.

They have no loyalty either. Theodore have any trade protection on his new deal? I’d gladly trade EK in for a newer model.
Absolutely. Theodore would have to come back for me in any Karlsson deal. Theodore has a five-team NTC this year and then on July 1 it becomes a full NTC.

If Detroit wants EK65, then Axel Sandin-Pelikka has to be included.

No charity moves here.

The Bob Father casually flexing his connections "Cal Ritchie is a really good prospect. He projects to be a 2nd line centre. An A- or B+ prospect of you canvassed a bunch of scouts. Which I did."

Yeah I love that trade for the Islanders, I'm a huge fan of Ritchie. Wild they got him for a rental Nelson.

Very scared of Savoie being classic AAAA guy

Is he talented enough for NHL top 6?

What does he do in a bottom 6 if he’s not?

Yeah this is my primary concern with Savoie as well. It's not that he's small, but he's top-6 or bust and I'm concerned that he's not enough to be top-6.

No thanks on Savoie tbh.

Yeah that Nelson return is bonkers too. Prices are crazy, don't pass up a great return in the pursuit of a perfect one, Dubas. (I know Nelson's a center, but still)

Theodore? You want Vegas to trade their #1 who's 5 years younger than Karlsson? Come on lol

I think there are enough hurdles with Edmonton being able to trade Arvidsson that I think it's pretty unlikely they're even in the market for Rakell. Yes, they very likely want to be in the market, but Arvidsson has a full NMC and I'm pretty sure he would only waive it to go to another top tier contender. And with his season, I'm not sure any contender would want him.

I still think Rakell to LA is the most likely outcome if Rakell gets traded. Based on the Nelson trade, Greentree and a 1st for Rakell is likely about what it would be. I wonder if the Penguins would request a NHL forward just to replace Rakell's roster spot, maybe like Akil Thomas?

I'd hope with the reports of teams feeling like they missed out on Schenn that Dubas would be working the phones on a potential Schenn deal, but I have a feeling he's one of the dipshit GMs that values what Luke Schenn brings. Which is basically nothing.

I hope like hell Dubas isn't f***ing stupid and pushes too far on the Rakell stuff. Just take one of the no-brainer good deals out there and stop this nonsense of trying to get perfection.

Hope Schenn is flipped too. Not that it matters to this team that he sucks, but other teams always seem to covet the guy so, y'know, there's more just sitting there waiting for the Pens.

With regards to Rakell - there has been essentially zero talk about interest in Rakell. There might not have been any offers for Rakell yet, much less any "no-brainer good deals." It's possible that all the GMs who are willing to send out insane offers have made their trades, and the remaining GMs aren't willing to pay that much. It's not worth getting that worked up over, really.

In terms of Schenn, well, it's probably nothing, but I can't help but notice that the Pens have given Novak a number already, but not Schenn: Pittsburgh Penguins 2024 - 2025 Roster | Pittsburgh Penguins
If I was forced to make a bet, I'd say they don't move Schenn, but I don't think they've ruled out the possibility, either.

First, a quick reminder: we often have several trades that don't get announced until after 3pm, due to the teams being in the phone queue with the NHL at the deadline. Once all of those finish trickling out, I expect we'll see Grzelyck and Beauvillier will have been traded. I seem to recall Ruhwedel was a last minute trade last year, after all, and those two are definitely "missed out on everything else" sort of moves for the playoff teams. I'm not convinced any other moves will be made in the end - they could easily be cases of "things just didn't work out in time."

Dubas and Armstrong are tight. I would think that Armstrong is happy and comfortable that L. Schenn is with Dubas now, because if Armstrong decides to move B. Schenn then he will likely call Dubas to try to get the brothers on the same team.

OR, if Armstrong and Steen want to make the playoffs this year, they now need a RD more than ever with the Parayko injury. Enter L. Schenn.

I think this is the reason why Dubas acquired L. Schenn. Keeping him beyond today would be...

not ideal.
