Expected or not, it is here. No plan survives contact. Not adapting to fill a hole now is losing the initiative of what the team has done to get to this point and very much puts their whole "vibes" thing in jeopardy by dereliction.
It isnt Friday yet, maybe I'm a sucker to think he might still do something.

The holes they have to fill extend past just this year and won't be filled internally any time in the timeline of the best players on the team being their best players.

So they still have time?

I love how this team has just about exceeded every expectation , and Dahlin/Power/Thomson/Cozens development have literally been about best case scenario…and that success has been taken as negative by so many in this thread because now there is some sense of urgency to make long term moves this instant.

Seriously, somehow this season is being treated as a failure because of how successful it is.

But that’s the internet for you. I’m enjoying the hell out of this season and excited because it’s the start of something good

i guess. I think that’s a bit simple, especially since he has had the team 11 years and we were intentionally bad for over a third of it. But heck, maybe he has the right guy now in charge. Seems like they are definitely on the right path.

and since the bills are looking at probably their second best period of success, and potentially best ever…seems pretty good to me.

A decade of ownership over two sports teams, and already has the bills as maybe their best and the Sabres maybe building something successful.

I’ll take it
I don’t care about the Bills here. They hired the right guy there and won the lottery on a qb that’s taken them to great regular season heights.

For the Sabres, they hired the wrong guy multiple times, for a set of gms that have led the franchise to one of the worst stretches in nhl history.

Either they’re selectively brilliant or they got lucky, but in either case, it all counts

The PLAYERS have exceeded expectations. The front office has been doing the basics.

I am slowly starting to cool down. Though missing on Chychrun looks bad, Adams still has time to make the correct moves to fill the holes we have on the roster... If no other moves are made of Friday and all Adams has to show is Stillman and a 3rd.... the team and fanbase might turn on him

You're literally telling a fan base that has been deprived of the playoffs for 10 years to step back from the ledge because they're irate that their GM couldn't pull the trigger on a trade that would involve future assets we could easily part with for a player who could propel us into the playoffs this year and who could significantly improve our playoff chances/advancement for the next two years after that.

You're not the voice of reason here. You're an apologist for bad management.

That’s not true at all. You can’t seriously argue our young core has exceeded expectations when the front office has preached this year was to see what the young guys can do
I'm not sure what your point is. A good handful of players have done well (TT, Tuch, Cozens, Quinn more lately, Dahlin has been even better, etc). The front office sitting around and watching is the basics. Credit for extending TT and Cozens at good deals. Otherwise what has the front office done that goes beyond the basics?

Or you can look at objectively and realize the majority of sports hires don’t work out. And until you have the right guy (who will eventually become the wrong guy) you don’t.

It took the bills until their second GM under Pegula. Very good.

It has taken the Sabres until possibly their third (or longer). Third isn’t too bad, any longer would really suck.

Add in Pegula’s willingness to spend, and I’m not seeing grounds to complain

I would say the front office is doing less than the basics.
At this point Adams is a lottery win in 2021 and a player he didn’t acquire’s unprecedented development from being in the exact same spot he was when he got here.

with worse goaltending

Why are you judging a team in literally year 1 of being anything resembling decent by the moves they make? They have built through the draft and this is the first year of being decent. These types of teams generally don’t make moves yet

The team has one of the worst defensive corps in the nhl outside of its star. It has arguably the worst goalie corps too

the Sabres have objectively had one of the worst stretches in the history of a 100 year old league. That’s beyond not just working out

Meh whatever. I see the forum is entering doom and gloom mode. The front office isn’t doing anything. Our Gm is bad. The owner is bad. Everyone has passed us.

I’m not in the business of trying to convince anyone otherwise. I strongly disagree and think this is a very exciting time to be a Sabres fan and I think we have the right coach and GM in place.

But if you all want to have a pity party, you should
