Trade Deadline Thread (March 3)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Chad tries to explain later in that thread that it is the Sens pick being (right now) higher than the Sabres pick that made the different.
Because clearly a two point lead over Ottawa in the standing with over 20 games left to play makes any attempt to equate the value of their first rounder vs ours utterly ridiculous.

JFC Adams you suck at making trades to fill holes, vs making trades to send off disgruntled a-holes that have no desire to play for Buffalo.

Reactive and cowardly is how I'd characterize your tenure so far. Grow a pair already.

People who think Adams has done a good job should be the most angry. Imagine what he could do it they didn’t have almost SEVENTY FIVE MILLION of accrued cap space right now. Or if he’d stop overvaluing prospects and picks…most of which they can’t sign and there isn’t room for because they’re almost all skill forwards

They’re wasting Cozens, Tage, Dahlin and Power making like 10 million total RIGHT NOW.

Next year they’ll waste Dahlin and Power making 7 total.

In two years they’ll say they can’t move futures because of all the big contracts. For the players they wasted while they were making nothing.
Wasting? Do you see the east? The goal is the cup and no matter who we trade for we have zero chance at that this year.

It’s just not making sense to me because we’re talking about players that if acquired would be with the team beyond this season. How the f*** does trading draft picks for a pretty young top 4 dman under contract for two more seasons that can insulate your 20 year old #1 pick who has to play with f***ing Jokiharju not help our “long term sustainability”

I imagine it would be like Ottawa where you need to charter a flight to get to a home game

Honestly I like their location, and get why they put if there. They figured Ottawa would expand and Kanata (and Petawawa, Penatenguishine, etc) would become part of it like all of the towns around Toronto. It just didn’t work because companies didn’t go to Ottawa.

With Ottawa only being 2 pts behind, I can't believe that would be much of a factor. There's about a 50/50 chance Ottawa finishes higher then Buffalo.
I feel similarly, but I'm not the Coyotes. Perhaps they view us as the better team. I doubt that was anything that was significant enough to get in the way if the Sabres actually wanted Chychrun.

The fan base being rabidly bi-polar isn't the team's fault.

I guess the buck stops with whoever hires those guys and approves those visions, then

i guess. I think that’s a bit simple, especially since he has had the team 11 years and we were intentionally bad for over a third of it. But heck, maybe he has the right guy now in charge. Seems like they are definitely on the right path.

and since the bills are looking at probably their second best period of success, and potentially best ever…seems pretty good to me.

A decade of ownership over two sports teams, and already has the bills as maybe their best and the Sabres maybe building something successful.

I’ll take it

The holes they have to fill extend past just this year and won't be filled internally any time in the timeline of the best players on the team being their best players.

I'm confident that Kevyn knows this. The multitude of rumors linking us to Chychrun shows me that he knows we need another top 4 D at the very least.....sooner rather than later.

At some point he knows he needs to make a move -- I just think it's coming in the off-season, not the TDL.

This Chychrun trade is proof that the front office is not serious about making the team better right now, even with moves that improve the team for the near future. Who knows what it is...Adams being complacent, working under an internal budget...I don't care really. The bottom line is that KA's quotes about long-term sustainability is just a smoke screen for operating at the bare bottom level of operations for the time being. That's it, no avoiding this conclusion.
