They're not going to rebuild. That's not what they want to do. That's from ownership. They're only trading their UFAs because they don't want to get embarrassed again when they walk for nothing. You clearly don't pay attention to Calgary at all.
Even in the Lindholm trade, very little of that transaction was "payment" to take on Kuzmenko. You could view the core of it as 1st + Bruz for Lindholm. So
at most, the Canucks were paying a depth pick and C-prospect for Calgary to take on Kuz.
So yes. I maintain it would not have been that hard to clear Kuz.
