Look at the team on paper now vs the beginning of the season. Now pretend the trade happened today and we would have had one of the most active deadlines in Canuck history. Just because we did it early doesn't mean we weren't involved. If absolutely anything I would look to the waiver wire to bolster a bit of depth and point to our record.

I don't think there is any debate.

As soon as it completed, it landed Top 3.
When that trade happened, the noise of Commando Dimbo getting on the Dimwit Fired Choppa was pretty loud.

That trade reminded me at the time of Entelodon, an ugly fat ass prehistorical pig the size of an SUV that would run around in packs and try to steal animal carcass from other predators. If they failed they'll just quickly take a giant shit on the carcass and run away.

The issue is in the Lindholm trade. You moved a couple good assets for him, and now he's looking like a pure rental. If you weren't really going for it, what's the point? It now looks like a fairly bad bet.
He may have served a purpose for Allvin as back up for Petey. Lindholm made that Carolina trade bluff more believable.

I'm not saying that he's worth it based on that but that it played a part in the Petey contract negotiations.

Hanifin for Vegas was a great add, other than that no needle movers, I agree.
Tanev to dallas is a needle mover imo
As is hanifin to vegas
Colorado got significantly better also
As did the jets this month

The Canucks have already invested a lot of futures into this season: A 1st, 3rd/4th, and Brzustewicz (Lindholm); A 2nd (Dickinson); a 3rd (DeSmith); a 3rd (Zadorov); and a 5th (Lafferty). If they don't want to spend much more, fair enough.

I don't have FOMO on any of these deals. The Canucks would need double retention on Toffoli to get him to fit, so you're probably looking at two 2nds and a 4th, at minimum.

Ruhwedel is probably the first trade I wish they'd done. He'd be an upgrade on Juulsen, and a huge upgrade on Friedman.
I think Trenin and Toffoli would have outsized impact on the Canucks in particular, relative to the acquisition cost.

I'm aware the Canucks made many in-season moves. I don't think it's a failure if they don't do anything at the deadline, considering they've already been very active in-season. I literally made this argument in the previous deadline thread.

I just think if they wanted to improve further, there were reasonably priced players that would help.

I don't really buy the Pettersson thing, I don't think they ever viewed Lindholm as more than a pure rental. He was just a pro-scouting miss.
