Thoughts on possibly bringing in a Lars Eller to the 4th line C?

He's got the experience, he's cheap, I don't think it would take a lot to get him, and I think he's better than Stenlund.

Stenlund is a good player, and I know he's on the PK, but I just worry about having a guy that has no playoff experience centering any line that might get decent TOI and also may be on the PK in the playoffs, which is just a different animal.

Thoughts?

It would be good if he didnt have an other year after this season.

Canes trade official:

@Gurglesons just join us full time, what is this return, not even a guaranteed first? Neither of their top 2 prospects? Surprised Florida couldn't match this tbh lol.

Pretty meagre return. Confirms to me that Zito wasn't really in on it and the rumors were just speculation to get some attention. Maybe he'd still be asking, why not, but the fit was never really there imo

Zito was there to only jack up the prices.

Canes will be a more difficult opponent with Svech and Guentzel in their lineup if the Panthers were to face them in the playoffs again.

In terms of "big" or "marquee" moves, we are done.

But right now our only option if our of the d-men go down for any period of time is Josh Mahura, who's fine, but doesn't exactly instill a ton of confidence. In the AHL they have Balinskis who's had a good season down there and then Lucas Carlsson who probably isn't going to get called up.

I genuinely expect Zito to pick up at least one more depth piece of defense and possibly up front. Maurice doesn't seem to care for Lorentz so I don't expect him to be that piece.

They still have some cap space to pick up a couple of guys at 50% if the other team eats some salary. I'd be shocked if there isn't at least one more depth move.

Adam Boqvist come on down!!!!

Possibly bottom-pairing D depth, someone with playoff experience, but the pickings will be slim there.

I think it all depends on Maurice, to be honest. You have to think that he is assessing the possible competition and what they will most likely roll out on the 3rd and 4th lines and seeing how he/they
can possibly upgrade...if he feels it necessary... without messing with the chemistry. It's a fine line to walk.

The top 2 lines are what they are, I'd gladly match them up against any team in the playoffs(you have no choice at this point), your best players have to be your best players and no amount of tinkering at this point on will change that fact.

If your going to match lines, especially in the playoffs, then you damn well better make sure you have the horses to do that, "system" be damned.

I'm on the fence about Barbanov, would possibly be a good add, but I also think that's contingent on just how good PoMo feels about keeping Loustar on the wing or possibly moving him the the 4th line C due to Stenlunds lack of playoff in-game experience, which you can also say about a possible Barbanov acquisition :

Tank Barkov Reino
Swaggy Bennett Chucky
Erod Lundell Barbanov
Cousins Loustar Lomberg

Just don't know how much I would trust that 3rd line with Barbanov to get into the dirty areas and win puck battles, which, as we all saw first hand, is paramount in the playoffs.

The more I think about it, the more I think they roll with what they have at forward and try and find something on the back end and they're done.
