Do you mean Schwartz?

I see Tanev being moved and maybe Oleksiak but outside of that, not sure if we move anyone else. If Oleksiak gets moved though, I wonder if the ownership will try to throw money at Rantanen or Marner (if they are not re-signed) before FA.

I don't know if they will "sit" on all that available cap space.
Haha yeah, PTSD from last years TDL maybe

What’s Bjorkstrand like? I saw him very little, but seemed determined and feisty.

I think you’ll enjoy Eyssimonts forecheck and speed; he loves his wraparounds.
Eyssimott is a AHL player and will be sent to Coachella he was a throw in to make some of the money work

Schwartz has been playing well...I can see Tanev

He’s played in 57 games this season on a considerably stronger roster than Seattle’s and looks virtually identical to Tanev, but sure… “AHL player”

I mean damn dude…isn’t it exhausting having the goofiest takes on this message board all the time?

I've seen him play a tonne and he's no more than AHL material he might score 10 in 2 years...oh yes he scored 11 last year...this is the kind of player that should have stayed and played 4-5 years of College hockey

I will say, with all these moves starting to happen, our prospects better come good. Analysts have like our drafting, so hopefully it translates. I'm also guessing this is why Bylsma was brought in, to help with the AHL to NHL transition.

A side benefit might be a higher draft choice this year as the team will be less competitive without Bjorkstrand and Gourde.

Be surprised if this is some sort of swan song for RF. Why would ownership give a departing GM the power to make this kind of trade? Doesn't make sense.

Guess we will have to hold our collective breath come free agency. Think there is a better than 50/50 chance we do something that is counterproductive. Hope I'm wrong.

I was in the garage brewing since 11am and had to make myself not be glued to the internet. What a crazy day for Seattle sports. I'll miss those guys, but it's the right time to let go of vets and rebuild.
Sad to see Gourde and Bjorky go but seems a good trade from Kraken POV.

I felt at end of last season and coaching change we should clear out the mid-level vets and go with the kids

Yup and I don't think they should stop here, either. Schwartz and Oleksiak for starters.

I think he will stay up. He's a bottom 6 guy but not terrible. They will need bodies to close out the season. Especially if they make more moves like Tanev.

Call Toronto. They are probably worried about getting past Tampa now.

That would be a good idea. There is a lot of talk here in TO about the need to bolster the Leaf line-up before the playoffs. They are going to trade with somebody, it might as well be us.

Essyimont is a fantastic player who is your ideal depth player. He has some offensive talent but is just solid all around and a great forechecker and energy guy who isn't afraid to stand up and do something. There's a reason a lot of TBL fans were most upset that he was gone. Probably won't matter much but he's at worst the ideal guy for a playoff run and leadership role in 2-3 years and at best we give him more ice time and he meshes with some of our players and maybe we can flip him as a 20g scorer crouse type or something.

I'm happy with the deal. Losing Bjorkstrand sucks but getting 2 1sts and a 2nd back is fantastic, especially in the '26 draft.

Eyssimont is UFA this summer isn't he? Hopefully he likes it in Seattle.

Rumor has them in serious talks for Laughton from Philly but I'd see what they'd give for Tanev. They might overpay after the Tampa and Florida moves.

I have heard good things about Eyssimont as well. Hopefully he likes it here enough to stick around.

I love Yanni, he’s my favorite player but saw this coming. Oliver was my 2 nd favorite player. Can see why both were moved, 2 firsts and a 2nd plus a player seems fair.

My only wish is they would have gotten more immediate help. Draft picks take a long time to pay off if they ever do. Our minors are full of potential prospects.

I'm very nervous what Francis has in mind with "summer upgrades" (i.e. "immediate help"). It would be so typical to make a good smart move, only to follow it up with something counterproductive in the long run - something boneheaded in other words, like blowing cap just to look pretty and please some bobblehead fans. It's not as if NHL fans haven't seen this time and time again across organizations. If Francis however has a solid summer my impression of this management team will go up immeasurably. Today was a good start, don't blow it now.

Yeah, the absurd emotional attachment some (especially on the Kraken FB page) always seemed strange to me. I want to cheer for a winning team, period.
You should see the kraken page on Reddit, if you’re not in “the cult of Gru” you’re labeled “a hater”.

Gru is a peach of a guy, but he’s statistically the worst goalie in the league.

Facebook and Reddit have a herd mentality. Either you agree with their opinion or else.

I don't even go there. Our main boards can be bad but are still much much better than those two.

I said similar fears on the page back. The GM is probably close to being on the hot seat and reaching desperation mode, he won't care about the future just the here and now. Ownership probably worry about no stars to market around, especially if people like Tanev with the goofy faces goes.

They need to stick with a plan. The fanbase I think would accept patience if they said we are going full on rebuild. Mariners was similar (the only issue being when its crunch time they arent spending money to help the core of prospects they developed to make a run). Half in half out stuff rarely works.

Agreed. Start with reality. There's nothing to rebuild. This organization's hockey team is a 4 year old barely out of diapers and still in build/growth mode. That's what management has to make clear and use as the plan. Build a real team. Don't let some hired "marketing guru" trip this up with some marketing nonsense that confuses people, that will only create more frustration and problems down the road.
