Nelson is just another monohan.. don't get desperate and over pay... rather pursue a wing at that point maybe a laughton aswell.. Nelson really that big of an upgrade.. don't see what he brings to the table outside of experience and lil extra scoring touch

He has the size and grit teams love for the playoffs but I agree don't overpay. He skated a lot better than Monohan as well.

Sure but his numbers aren't that special.. better skater with some grit.. I'm sure there's decent plan b options that bring similar traits to the table

Monahan was worth a 2nd and Chevy paid a 1st…Nelson is worth a 1st + 3rd as a rental, so it’s unlikely Chevy overpays to much…maybe 1st + 2nd value + small add kinda deal, which is an over pay but we’ll see.
Wing does nothing to help our need at C. Getting a winger with term or a lesser C with term like McCann or Laughton, means we still need a 2C next year but now we have less cap to do it with.

I'd pay the price, because this is as good as it gets. Have the feeling that every year after this one will be a disappointment in some way.

I'll go a step further and say it would be a good opportunity to split up KC and Scheifele, have Connor and Nelson as a potential 1B line. Move Ehlers short shifts with Scheifele's long shifts, and maybe there is some balance there, and Scheif shoots the puck more.

Pionk has his flaws for sure, but he's a top 4 RHD and as you said, those dont grow on trees.

In addition to everything you said, he also seems like a quality dude and fits in well in the room

I'm not sure what next year looks like due to another year of term for Miller, but beyond that, I think that Demelo - Pionk - Salo is the right side for a foreseeable time

You are probably right, though Salo might swap places with DeMelo fairly quickly.

But the problem I see with Pionk is 3 things. The AAV on his next contract, The term of his next contract and putting together 2 or more relatively good seasons in a row.

I won't like the hole he leaves if he walks but I won't like the contract he gets if he stays.

The only good picture I see is if he walks and we pick up a good RD either in FA or by trade and both of those are bit of long shots.

how would you guys feel about this?

No effing way would I include Perfetti, even if Nelson is extended.

Cmon Brock tell em you refuse to sign and wont go anywhere other than Winnipeg as you believe it's your best chance at a cup and force isles to sell you cheap

Assuming Nelson doesn't re-sign with NYI, I can understand from the Jets perspective getting Nelson as a rental. Not sure why from a Jets perspective we would won't to sign long term? He will be 34 y/o at the start of next season and you would have to think he would be looking at at least 5 years, maybe more if he can get it.

I would be more worried about being bitten by an alligator in Florida, to be honest... :sarcasm:

Compared to being bitten by an alligator in Wpg? Well, yeah!

I don't think he will fall off a cliff in 1-2 years and hopefully by the time he does we will have lambert/yager ready to take the spot

He's standing on that cliff edge already. He's still OK this year but he might not be even as early as next year.
