Bergevin said he had been trying to acquire Petry for about 2 months.

He said his goal is to make the playoffs and then we'll see. Doesn't know how far we'll be able to get.

edit: He also said that there's a ton of interest out there for our young players.

Transition year like he stated previously.

I expect to see a few changes in the off season.

OVERALL DEADLINE GRADE: B

Good, not great. Got some quality assets without giving up anything on the roster and kept pace with a lot of teams in our division that also made similar moves.

I was on the side saying that Bergevin should have paid the price for a scorer, but as he mentioned in his presser, nothing of that calibre was moved today so it's obvious there wasn't much of a market for one that wasn't going to take a huge, huge overpayment. I'm disappointed, but okay with that. It allows us to keep our depth and properly evaluate who's staying and who's going at the end of the year and possibly trade them for picks/more assets.

Pumped for the playoffs.

You know, an hour ago I was pretty pissed. Now that I've cooled down I am pretty damn happy we didn't lose assets. Yes we still need a top6 but with Carey playing like he has I think we have a legit chance at a run. I think in the playoffs 2-3 guys will step up with some crucial goals. Ultimately, I like the team more today than yesterday. Better? Yes. Can we improve? Yes, during the off season though!

where are you listening?

It's over. TVA Sports carried the French portion of the press conference and cut it off as soon as the English one started.

TSN 690 is playing the English one now.

Imagine this team a year older, with a 2015 first rounder and adding a serious top 6 forward next draft by trading their 2016 1rst.

being big isnt enough, and subban has never EVER been overly physical in front of the net. Neither has beaulieu or markov. could they do it ? sure. but I remember monsters like AHL-level pageau riding the blue with impunity.

I'm not talking about enforcer. I'm talking about a guy who will lay the lumber into the back of a guy and forcibly move him from the top of the crease. to disincentivize guys from standing 6 inches from our goalie. We have ( sans tinordi) NO ONE who does this.

Price does it himself:laugh:

Regardless, we still have the best goals against totals in the league.

Nothing is going to stop a Kreider from going feet first into the goalie.

I'd love to have a big scary guy like Tinner to push people around but he's not good enough at the moment.

Those big defensemen are getting more and more scarce because it's all about speed now.

When I watch the leafs and see Phaneuf clearing the front of the net (the one thing he is considered good at), 90% of the time all he's doing is providing an additional screen and often taking penalties.

The game has changed a lot and that is why we see so few stay at home guys left. Their is simply no benefit to having a guy who is only good at one thing when you can have a guy that is good at everything.

Look at the best defensemen in the league and you'll notice that they are all good puck movers.

Torrey Mitchell answering to Louis Jean in french after a question in English! Priceless!

Do we have a clip?

That's what happens in Quebec when your name is not Thierry Michel. ;)

We can still win but it will take a Magician directing traffic.
MT has too many pieces to play with and it could become a great big Clusterfrig.

I don't know, I have confidence. That being said I actually like MT so I can understand how we will disagree on the subject.

No one cares
I guess Bergy was telling Eller he was not being traded after all. I wish we added some scoring depth just to make it harder for teams to shut us down, key on Pacioretty and it's tough for us after that. A Kessel or Eberle would have made us more interesting. Oh well, lets see what happens I guess.
