Let's take these 1sts to the draft and see if we can steal some talent with term. We've still got nikishin coming in. Literally the only thing we have is less necas playoff vaporware.
This is a random dice rolll year and we shouldn't burn assets on this one.

Our best shot was last year and the pp blew it.
2 years ago, but we got goalied despite Freddy playing pretty f***ing good in the ECF in his own right.

Would have been nice to use the 1sts to acquire another piece with term, but I'm happy to recoup some assets from this whole saga. The big swing didn't work as expected, but regardless of why that ended up being the case, I think they at least made the best of a bad situation. He obviously didn't want to be here, so I'm not sure how much of a difference a disinterested Rantanen truly would have made the rest of the way.

I still think this team could get to 2nd/3rd round. But not getting past the ECF. Also, Florida and Dallas are now heavy heavy favorites to make the Cup Finals -- how often have we seen the heavy heavy favorites on paper actually make it all the way? I bet both are bounced in round 1 or 2 this year.

honestly I'm pretty annoyed by it. Absolutely should have turned one of those firsts into something like Boesser.
At the end of the day, we gave up on this season. I would have liked us to try and explore bringing in someone who would help us next year and spend the rest of this season getting used to our style, so I'm very annoyed they didn't.

Burns and Orlov are terrible, so defensively we are pretty cooked. We have a miserable PP, our skilled players get bumped off the puck way too easily, we struggle badly offensively when we aren't on a fast break, and we don't have a reliable scorer on the roster. And our one pickup at the deadline is a 5'8 winger who is skilled but terrible at finishing by NHL standards.

I'm really struggling to find the positivity in our personnel movements this year. Even if you consider Hall a big win, he's still an aging winger whose best years are long behind him.

going to be a very competitive cup run with 10 teams top shelf competitors:
East: leafs-Tampa-Florida-Caps

&

West: Minny-Avs-Dallas-Jets-Oilers-Vegas

I have Tampa and Jets in the final (only because I now don’t like Avs or Dallas)

So what are the lines going to look like?
right now?

At what point do we start admitting that Svech is not going to end up being the first line player we drafted him to be.
