Domi is our #3C at 3.75 and people bitch about his contract, yet want to bring in Schenn at 6.5 to play the same #3C who has 3 years left on his deal, who is producing around the same pace as Domi last season (not good) ...his salary is on par with the rumored JT resigning price, at near the same age, BUT 1/2 the production, and people dont want to resign JT.

this is insanity

Personally, I'd deal Domi in a sellers market and just call up Minten, or even slot Holmberg in at 3C (Jarn would need to be on the 3rd line to make this feasible though) Or, sell him too!!
yup sell Domi Kampf Jarnkrok
Play Minten 3 c, Holmberg 4 c Steves on wing

What do you mean Tre has almost no time remaining?
The idea that he has the luxury of making decisions that don't bear immediate fruit doesn't make any sense. He has inherited the clubs legacy of failure and another quick exiit will paint him as someone who can't get them out of it. I think Shanny is done after another early elimination and the new president will have his own GM. He should have a bit more runway if he properly throws Shanahan under the bus for the run it back decree but I'm not sure the two are divisible if the axe comes this summer. I though Steven's post implied Tre might not think this years lineup was the one to go all in on.

I wasn't talking about this TDL because they haven't lost out on anyone we thought was a target (yet).

I kinda hope we don't really do much, the prices floated around (of course everything Leafs is gonna be cooked for clicks) far outway what would likely be brought in. Tanev and Stolarz are the biggest additions we could have made over previous years and maybe Matthews will decide to look like a superstar again soon. My bet is a 6th defenseman and another bottom line forward.
Matthews has looked like a superstar in the playoffs zero times in his entire life. Showcase events, different story.

12 million for Rantanen is "well short"??? With the cap going way up the next few years salaries are going to go bonkers. Domi's gonna be asking for 7x7 his next contract
Well his contract won't be with us so don't really care what he asks for.

Tavares probably gets a HAUL and a half if they traded him now.

Leafs should explore selling some guys like Domi/Benoit/Jarnkrok/Robertson/Kampf/Timmins then using that capital to add.

But of course we know that this front office does not get creative.
At these prices I’d rather sell than buy, that’s for damn sure…….

I find that hard to believe when teams like Tampa have been buying since like 2018, Florida since 2020, Vegas since their inception etc.

Teams find ways to get players. It requires creativity, which our front office has lacked
Truth.

I still don't like the costs this year, so I get the inactivity. Treliving is not the big swing at the deadline guy. But the idea that we've blown all of our assets prior to this and he has nothing to trade is silly. Sure, you can say (as BT does often), the big swing only works for one team so you have to be really thoughtful, that's a different argument all together though. We can swing if we want to, I don't think we want to. And maybe that's right, only time will tell either way.

It's crazy seeing these prices happening and then comparing them to all the Kampf, Robertson, Niemela and a 3rd proposals over the last few months

Have we still done nothing?

Sitting on our hands isn't an option, either make the team better or maybe sell a few guys we don't need but do something

Look at the big salaries they have shed in that time, Stamkos walked and Tampa was ok with it and they are still strong. Or, they have LTIR. Leafs have their core and they eat up half of the salary cap. It's that simple. Leafs owners and foolish Leaf fans drooled over Marner, Nylander, JT and Matthews while opposing teams drooled as well come playoffs.

Tell me this, name a big name, game changer you'd like, then you receive a call from Brad. What on the Leafs will you accept for this trade and how does it help the Leafs become better?

I'm getting angrier by the minute that Tre doesn't do anything while all our division rivals and other teams have loaded up. If Tre stands pat (looks like it) he should be shitcanned if Leafs are out in the first round, which they will be. 3.5 hours left. Do something significant you freaking ass clown.

I'd trade for Mikko Rantanen and give up Matthews Knies in the package

Let Tavares walk in the summer and build around Matthews/Marner/Rantanen/Nylander

You make a big move, bringing in one of the best playoff players in hockey while shaking the foundation of the team
