Can we still trade Weber right now to Arizona since he's not going to play?
Good question, I don’t know.

I was wondering, are there any rules that an NCAA UFA who signs w a team can’t be traded shortly thereafter?

I.e wouldn’t it be something if McBain was dealt by Yotes to Habs for Weber’s contract?

I like the sneaky moves made by the Rangers around this deadline. Their biggest issue was depth. Their bottom 6 isn’t very good. Adding Copp, Vatrano and Motte is really going to help them. That team will be a tough out in the playoffs the way Shesterkin is playing.

You can trade anyone you want right now. They just aren't eligible for the playoffs.

So yes, he could trade Weber tomorrow if he wanted.

This is how I envisioned the scene unfolding over in Leafland after the 2pm waiver wire news broke that Mrazek had cleared waivers and Sateri got claimed by the Coyotes. :)
@sampollock must have been pleased.

Here's how I envisioned it, using his favorite doppelganger for Dubas, "Mr. Peabody":

I "love" it when certain posters from here go to other teams' boards to butt-much and congratulate their fans on acquiring our players, especially yesterday after the trade with the Avs. Please. The Canadiens absolutely fleeced the Avs yesterday. When's the last time a a team acquired a likely top-four 20 year old d-man for a middle/bottom six forward, albeit a decent one, at the trade deadline? I don't recall either. This why the trend is moving way from ex-players running pro sports franchises. They're largely out of their depth.

When you look value... I see trades like that :

Tyler Toffoli for Justin Barron, 2nd pick EDM 2022 and 2nd pick COL 2024.
Artturi Lehkonen for Emil Heineman and 1st pick CGY 2022.
Ben Chiarot for Ty Smilanic and 1st pick FLO 2023.
Brett Kulak for Tyler Pitlick, William Lagesson, 4th pick NYR 2022, 5th pick FLO 2023 and 7th pick EDM 2024.

That's very very good when you look like that.

Who does everyone think may be available after the season from teams who need to make some tough decisions? I'm thinking Dubois from Winnipeg. They have a lot of tough decisions to make. Anyone else?

That’s funny, I have a Cammy, Kovalev and Subban jersey. I stopped buying jerseys for that reason.

Avatar: Perry, Ducharme (to mock him though)

I will take suggestions for my next avatar

What's even more funny is i have the nucks Bure jersey and the ch Muller jersey. Gosh i'm never buying a jersey again ...

What a shit show:

Vegas still has their 2023 1st.

If that trade gets voided, Montreal trades Tyler Pitlick, Kale Clague and a 2023 5th for Dadonov and an unprotected 2023 1st round pick.

Assuming we're not on his 10 team M-NTC.

Dadonov's season would be over, as he wouldn't be able to play with us. Pitlick and Clague can go on LTIR, and their seasons would be over too.

I'd be okay with it, but man would that make it hard for Montreal to clear cap in the offseason.

That would be nice. Not sure Hughes will want now to add a contract to next year's cap, unless of course he's confident that he can move Dandonov during the upcoming offseason.
