It's not that strange that Avs haven't managed to get a pick. This team never has been focused on acquiring picks. Always prefer gambling on players who haven't panned out elsewhere instead.

Look at it this way. From 2008 to this year, when the team should have been rebuilding this is the average number of picks:

1st round picks: 0.9/year
2nd round picks: 1.1/year
3rd round picks: 0.7/year
4th round picks: 1/year
5th round picks: 1/year
6th round picks: 1/year
7th round picks: 1/year

This team has gone through a ten year rebuild/slump without accumulating any picks, instead spending them on things like Berra, Stuart, Boedker.

I also think this correlates directly with their inability to develop the picks they have had.

We could argue chicken-egg-chicken all day, but in the end I think the issues go hand to glove
