Trade Deadline 23/24

"This whole mentality of I am here for myself and for no one else while playing a team sport serves absolutely no purpose for anyone... OMG"

Like it or not OMG, this is not our "70's".

Look I'm not trying to put the cart in front of the horse... just express a possibility.

I’m not trying to put words in your mouth either. I fully understand where you are coming from.

This whole mentality of ME ME ME ME is an issue. We should not support it. We do need to take care of ourselves first but there is a difference between prioritizing yourself and being selfish. I think there is too much selfishness these days.

I think the idea was that if he was doing it from the perspective of remaining in Peterborough for no competitive reason, it would be a character issue.

Correct.

Someone proclaimed that Beck “doesn’t want to play in the Memorial Cup” because he wants to rest up for training camp in the fall.

An utter absence of a competitive spirit in an athlete is something I view as a huge character flaw.

The kooks who insist players should be able to sit out and rest up whenever they feel like it are likely the same advocates of participation ribbons for everyone because there are no losers and everyone is a winner.

It was stated previously by another poster. He doesn’t want to play in the memorial cup and then have a short turnaround for NHL camp.

In todays modern sport world your comment is at best ludicrous! This has nothing to do with anything other than a financial future... again if that is what is driving our speculation.

Athletes focused on their “financial future” are the same me-first prima donnas who will never sacrifice themselves for the team. They’ll never play hurt, or take a hit to make a play.

If I’m putting a team together, there’s not a chance in hell that I’d want that kind of gimp because you cannot win with cancers like that.

Not sure what Barrie is doing sitting there with 2 OA goalies and Punnett and Frasca. They may be stuck with all them now although I can see Punnett or Frasca to London

No, and neither does any professional athlete.

Especially the petulant prima donnas who cry to the media about how insulted they are after being offered a guaranteed contract worth tens of millions of dollars because they “have a family to feed.”

I’m cringing at how feeble your argument is.

2/3/5 for Dubois

Wow, that’s a great return. No idea what Kingston is thinking with such a delusional move.

I’m super impressed with the deals Peterborough has made so far.

Yep, Mayer trade just dropped and OTT is gonna have to move on from Donoso or Lawrence.

Jax Dubois to Kingston is happening too
Probably Lawrence I’d assume. Goaltending has been one of Ottawa’s strengths this year.

The main way I see this making sense is that they're cutting into a potential Ludwinski return, similar to how they handled the Budnick/Schmidt trades.

I still don't like that they've have 2 '24 seconds, it makes no sense to pick with them, but I'd have thought they'd use those for a move while keeping future picks for moves next year.

Kingston is basically thinking what most of the other teams are in the east and hoping to get hot at the right time going into playoffs. Wouldn’t sleep on them they’ve been a lot better since the coaching change I don’t think they are far off from the teams ahead. Although would of liked to see them bring in Thornton from Barrie as a OA

Can always move them before the draft for a future second and third or fourth. Happens all the time.

Maybe Kingston is going all in to get three home playoff games this year instead of just being happy with two.
