Not sure about HC, but for me seeing the absolute sellers market out there and the fact GMDB is having to throw in picks to get what he wants lives a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. Other teams we getting absolute hauls for selling off, and Briere is getting.....fine value? Great. Fine is fine. Other teams got great, but I guess fine is better than doing nothing.

I feel that’s all he ever gets is fine. He doesn’t get great value. It’s always bad to fine. I’m sure wanting to do right by Laughton limited his options and got him a worse return than he could have gotten.

It's been a few days since the TDL finished, and I've had time to think about it.

The Laughton trade -- It's fine in a vacuum value wise. But it's kind of annoying the 1st rounder is 2-3 years away, which isn't going to be on the team for 4-5 years, and likely not to be a top contributor for 6-7 years. It's also kind of annoying that they view mid-round picks as throw-ins. Giving up a 4th this year is kind of annoying. I want as many chances as I can get in those mid-late rounds.

The Kuzmenko trade -- I don't like retaining 50% and getting a 3rd rounder so far away. Again, the value isn't terrible, but I would have much rather seen them retain on Risto and trade him, given the sellers market this TDL.

Overall - Kind of similar to the rest of DB's moves, it's not a total failure, but very far from a slam dunk -- Mediocrity in its finest form.

The mediocrity really is in the value of the players that the Flyers have to trade. A club doesn't get to be the fifth or so worst record in the league with a lot of talent.
The talent is slim and the coaching is worse. Tortorella hit a milestone in his time here yesterday; one hundred losses. He's 96-100-32. In most places a coach with that record would be shown the door. Worst PP in the league over the last three seasons and the coach for that is still here. Only with the Flyers in its quest for culture is that tolerated.
The organization has had some lows during its existence but what is going on right now is about as bad as it ever has been. Someone needs to intervene at the end of the season and put this dog and pony show to rest. It reeks of incompetence.

Another problem as I see it: the Flyers *had* good players who if they sold on could return massive returns, but they decided to resign them and just preserve the status quo as much as possible (Konecny and Sanheim mostly).

The Canucks GM dialed the honesty way up

That thing's gonna fall apart. Rutherford is not a good executive and never was. Riding Crosby and Sullivan's coattails fooled the Canucks, as these things tend to do.
