They should leave the kid alone. Let him develop physically as well as skills wise. Call up Abols or Rizzo to fill in at center. It doesn’t matter if they lose. In fact losing would be better than winning.

This defense sucks so much. An aspect to Risto not being moved is the consideration of York potentially going to arbitration (or being traded in off-season). That potentially moves a lot of things around, and assuming no "Big Game Hunting" this off-season, that would then put Sanheim back over to 1LD, and who would the Flyers then put at 1RD or even 2RD?

RD is such a terrible weakness on this team, and there's no way Bonk is any sort of savior of the position either.

Risto’s salary is too much for the taste of some teams. Then there is his injury history over the last couple of seasons. Combine that with mediocre play and he’s just not that appealing.

I’ll be mad if he doesn’t draw in, because he’ll be an awesome Puckdoku name if he does, and I’ll whammy several times remembering him if he doesn’t. If he didn't make the pointless Kuzmenko trade, he could've traded Ristolainen at 50% for more than Laughton got, based on the market and rumored interest in Ristolainen.

But I believe he made that trade to make trading Ristolainen impossible, coupled with the ridiculous asking price of a 1st, good prospect, and an NHL player.

It’s bizarre that the Flyers are more sentimental over Laughton than the Bruins are over Marchand. One of them is a Cup winning, future hall of famer.

I'll give this trade deadline (day of) a C+, maybe a B-.

I wish the 1st wasn't a 2027 one with the potential to be a 2028 (hello, Giroux trade where that pick STILL has not been made). I also wish that Briere didn't feel the need to just needlessly throw away mid round draft picks.

I'm intrigued by Grebenkin. They actually did "flip" Kuzmenko when i'll admit I expected that project to just end with scratches or being waived. Gave EJ a shot at "winning" another Cup with the Avs.

But most of all they FINALLY traded a player that wasn't openly feuding with the head coach or part of a PR nightmare. I've been asking for that for about two years now. So combine that with the Eagles winning the Super Bowl and maybe I won't complain for twelve or so minutes.*

They could have embarrassed themselves like they typically do but they didn't. Trading Risto was never really realistic either at this point, IMO. I would have liked them to but alas.

Team still stinks and isn't on a path to contending.

Why are we saying needlessly? I know it's easy to shit on this org and they definitely deserve it, but wasn't the sentiment leading up to the deadline that Laughton was unlikely to get a first? Plus they got a young player with NHL experience, albeit minimal. Seems like throwing in a 4/6 to get that first and the player makes sense. I'd have liked them to blow it up further, but I'm feeling pretty good about the deadline. I'd give it a B maybe a B+.

Now lets just hope they just totally crater and Torts gets fired and we wind up with a top five spot in the lottery.

Not sure about HC, but for me seeing the absolute sellers market out there and the fact GMDB is having to throw in picks to get what he wants lives a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. Other teams we getting absolute hauls for selling off, and Briere is getting.....fine value? Great. Fine is fine. Other teams got great, but I guess fine is better than doing nothing.
