I give Briere a C grade for the deadline. Huge missed opportunity on Risto in a favorable market where teams were paying out the nose for guys. Also the 1st in the Laughton deal being a protected 2027 first while retaining 50% really brings that mark down. Although I am excited to see what Grebenkin can do.

Would’ve like to see another d and forward spot clear out for AHL guys to get looks down the stretch.
I'm of a similar mind, probably give Briere somewhere between a C+ and a B-. He didn't embarrass himself and actually did some selling, but I'm not exactly punching air at trading Laughton with retention and 2 picks for a low 1st two or three years away.

Pretty low bar to clear, but he did clear it.

I don't know about you, guys, but this TDL by Flyers made me feel like it was... Usual Flyers. Mediocre. We did not get robbed, but did not make any ''oh, nice!'' deals either. Le sigh. And Flyers beat-writers on Twitter are already writing how apparently the Russian dude who we acquired is Michkov's buddy. Culttaaaahhrrr. Le sigh x2.

I'm old enough to remember when they said the same thing about Kuzmenko.

What a f***ing disaster of a TDL.

That return for Carlo, when Risto is the better player, just aggravates the f*** out of me.

Can't wait for Grebenkin to be another 4th line grinder and our 2027 late 1st to make an impact on the 3rd line (if we're lucky) in 2032

I'll give this trade deadline (day of) a C+, maybe a B-.

I wish the 1st wasn't a 2027 one with the potential to be a 2028 (hello, Giroux trade where that pick STILL has not been made). I also wish that Briere didn't feel the need to just needlessly throw away mid round draft picks.

I'm intrigued by Grebenkin. They actually did "flip" Kuzmenko when i'll admit I expected that project to just end with scratches or being waived. Gave EJ a shot at "winning" another Cup with the Avs.

But most of all they FINALLY traded a player that wasn't openly feuding with the head coach or part of a PR nightmare. I've been asking for that for about two years now. So combine that with the Eagles winning the Super Bowl and maybe I won't complain for twelve or so minutes.*

They could have embarrassed themselves like they typically do but they didn't. Trading Risto was never really realistic either at this point, IMO. I would have liked them to but alas.

Team still stinks and isn't on a path to contending.

*This isn't binding, i'm taking Thatcher Venmo to the game tomorrow.

What’s Risto have, another year left on his contract?
We’re not doing anything this year. Or next. Probably not the next two after that.
Briere has a history of accepting or asking for picks several years away.
The longer they wait to move Risto, the later the eventual pick will be.
What’s the point in moving Laughton now and keeping Risto?

It’s better than Fletcher era and nice to sell because you should sell and not just because the coach doesn’t like them. Risto can be more easily be traded in the future so I’m not too worried there. Pretty sure we can get a 1st next year for him.

Got to hope we draft and develop well.
