They are worried about replacing Risto. They are going to have cap space this summer. Trade him and address it in July. But no this organization is incompetent
This is more proof they are not rebuilding for the future. Why should they care about next year. Risto is not part of the future when the Flyers are hopefully a Cup contender. But they care more about packing the stadium & selling tickets next year then sacrificing now to be a Cup contender later on. It typical mediocre Flyers mindset.

These individuals haven't been born yet.

"We value Laughts and Risto and were not shopping them...teams were calling on them and we listened. Ultimately no one offered us anything that comes close to what these guys bring the Flyers, not only on the ice but in the locker room.

Plus, we did our moves early with our deal with Calgary. We were not going to do a deal, just to do a deal. We like our guys and are happy with our direction".

They want to be in on Rantanen or Marner (trading a late 1rst to be able to sign one 8yrs at the draft) and think Laughton and Risto are key pieces to compete as early as next year or the year after. That is why it is so hard for them to trade them.

Careful dan

Careful danny might take this.

And this is where rebuilding teams who are not close get into long term trouble.
