Not only that, but a pick around 24th in 2024 is probably a top 20, top 18 pick in 2025 in terms of quality of the prospect there.

The way the young D talk about Savard is enough for me to keep him until next TDL. The guy will one day be the Defense coach for the Habs imo.

To be fair that's just a team thing they all do. They will talk about Gallagher like he's McDavid if given the chance. So I do agree he has value, I'm just worried about selling low which Montreal is so well known for over the decades. I don't know how his value can be any higher than now, and it may outweigh the benefits he brings to the blueline. Were we really that worse off when he was injured? I'd have to look at our stats.

The Leafs have a 1st, a 4th, 3 5ths, a 6th, and 3 7ths in the next TWO drafts. I don't know what the plan is for them in the offseason but their situation is a mess. Maybe they trade Tavares at 50% in the offseason and recoup some picks or trade Marner but man it's bad.

Both have full NMC's so that could really throw a wrench into that idea if they did want to try and move either.

If Calgary can trade with Edmonton so can MTL and Toronto. Double retained Savard for 1th RP. I would even pay a 5th and throw in the rights for Norlinder for the 3th team for retaining

To get back to your post about TDL vs offseason value, we just saw with Edmundson that there really isn't that big a difference in value. So there's every reason to believe if Savard is worth a 1st right now that he'll still have that value in 3-4 months time.

What helps the Habs is that the majority of trades are happening 1-2 days before the actual deadline. Some team might get desperate to keep up.

I remember when we got Weber. I mean i was not in the "he's not good camp" but man the way players and media were talking about him it was like we had just acquired a mix of Lidstrom, Orr and Chelios with a little bit of Chara and Bourque dusted over it all baked together.

He won’t fetch a 1th in the offseason. 2 cup runs is the biggest value with 75% retained
