I am perfectly fine with the 1st plus Ceci for Savard. Ceci is a warm body we can insert in the lineup to replace Savard, and maybe we can flip him later for a mid-round pick.

The Leafs have a 1st, a 4th, 3 5ths, a 6th, and 3 7ths in the next TWO drafts. I don't know what the plan is for them in the offseason but their situation is a mess. Maybe they trade Tavares at 50% in the offseason and recoup some picks or trade Marner but man it's bad.

Leafs are just going for depth. Just enough to maybe win a round and that's it.
Kind of a toss up against Boston honestly, since they are so good defensively. This version of the Panthers is way better than the one that cooked them last season.

Three picks in the first three rounds for the next three years...

yeah, they may have enough to get through boston, but that's about it.

Engels says the Habs want to be much more competitive next year than this year.

Says if Savard stays, he's likely to run his contract out then with Montreal.

Not a bad plan, TBH. Hopefully Savard stays healthy if so.

I think he's saying that because he thinks there's a likelihood we'll be competitive for a playoff spot at TDL and won't be sellers.

Engels also thinks, for these reasons and others, Hughes moves Savard by this Friday.

Love the Eddy pickup for the leafs should help them go out first round. Loved him during the finals run but he was done the next year and is even worse now.
Plus let’s be honest, he was carried by Petry when he was here. Not sure who will do the heavy lifting for Ed on the Leafs.

Better hope for a miracle then because swapping Dach with Monahan and Dvorak with White aren't exactly drastic moves to become much more competitive.

If we are going to be competitive next year, we need to get rid of a lot of dead weight in our bottom 6. Anderson, Dvorak, Gallagher... That's a busy summer for Hughes.

Seeing as the Leafs now have zero in the way of draft picks to fill their cupboard. We should offer them a package of picks to move up.

Colorado 2nd 2024(probably 58-64 OV) + Worse of Habs/Pens 2nd 2025 (40-50) + Habs 3rd 2024 70+) for Leafs 1st 2024 (26-32)

Agreed. we need to have some semblance of a functional third line and not just a collection of useless vets. Our 3rd line is a ways away from getting better, but we do have some pieces we can move to help that.

Good at being physical and clearing the net which the Leafs need.
Maybe in the past. He's a pylon now.

I would love to get rid of that deadweight to give more ice time to the youth. But I'm not sure we can't be competitive with those players in the bottom six. I do, however, think it would be much better to go into next season with a better 3c than Dvo, both if we're trying to be competitive and if we're trying to develop the youth.

But losing Monahan deals a big blow to our competitive hopes.
