We're at like year one - "WE DON'T HAVE SUPERSTARS! Our players are nothing but questions..." and then a guy like Hutson gets written off.

I mean, can we not give it a a couple of years?

I'm not writing off Hutson. But there are guys you can draft that are highly-talented top-end prospects up front that were missed out on, particularly in last year's draft that had a lot of top end talent in the top 10... and we drafted a questionable defenseman in a weak draft for defense.

My problem isn't that we don't have superstars one year into a tank. It's that we're doing everything we can to avoid talent, it seems. And we're looking like the Red Wings more day by day

But he's a 'huge question mark' instead of being seen as an awesome prospect with star potential...

"Questionable defenseman".... according to you.

You don't know this.

There are a bunch of guys in the lineup who could turn into superstars. We're too young to know yet.

The important question is... are leafs a lock to win the cup now?

Also... Toffoli is traded again. Dude seems to be moved every TDL.

I can understand the 'we don't have a superstar' criticism to an extent. We didn't get Bedard or Fantilly or whatever...

But that doesn't mean we don't have stars/superstars in our lineup coming up. It's simply too early to know.

I guess, but it feels like complaining for the sake of it. Like, we can point out a lot of mistake Bergevin made, but not getting lucky in the 2016 draft lottery isn't really one of them. It would be nice if Montreal had better blue chip prospects and more elite talent, but its pretty early in the rebuild.

I would have liked to have given Pearson away for free to a team that still had a retention spot, and who could then flip him at 50% retained to a contender.

But, you can't have everything, and at least he'll be off the books and off the roster in a couple of months.

It's a lack of patience and understanding on how hockey works.

Vegas started from scratch, no? They weren’t maxed to the cap when they started with their plan? Some people need their diapers changed, they are cranky.
Vegas were given the world when they started out................that's what 600M to join the league gave them...and we shouldn't begrudge them that......
They did what many said they shouldn't and they made the Eichel deal, and off to the races they went.

I don't need HockeyDB. I'm old enough to remember.

Naslund was a top ten finisher once. Vinny never did it and neither did anyone else on that 93 club. Both teams had good balanced scoring.
It was a weird team. Three 40 goals capable guys in their pime up front with playmakers on the back end. Along with a couple of physical guys and grit and a bunch of guys who could lose it at any time. Was not a very clean team. Certainly not a milk drinkers team. I remember once Damphousse was suspended for cross checking a guy right in the face in front of the net. I remember Schneider hitting guy on the head with his arm while skating by for absolutely no reason at all. Along with obviously one of the best goalie of all time. Pretty depth team too with Sean Hill as a 7th dman he had a very good career in Carolina. To be factual though LeClair did finish in top 10 scoring with the Flyers but he was playing on our 2nd line with a so so center because Savard was injured.

Eventually it will catch up to them but then they will do the Chicago/San Jose and be back at it again in a few years.

So when's the circus closing? We ain't trading anymore shit aren't we?
No, Habs are done.

They could still do trades, but now it would likely only be if they're getting paid to take said player.

Johansen didn't move, which isn't odd. Was told he doesn't want to play for Torts ?

I'm on the record as saying teams really do need superstars to win. But those stars can be blueliners, goalies, whatever...

Maybe our top six will be without stars. I don't know any more than anyone else here. But we still have a whack of guys on the blueline and more picks/prospects on the way. We're so far from what we'll be...

The question shouldn't be if we have enough to win a cup right now. The question should be if we're moving in the right direction and I don't see how anyone can say we aren't.

Guess I didn’t articulate myself well, cause I was just wanting to point out that Hughes started with a massive handicap to try and right this ship, quite the opposite of Vegas. It’s not comparable imo and I completely agree.

Why does every tv show that Marinaro is a part of, degenerate into a shouting match?

Saw him on TVA Spanre’s deadline show and sure enough, it got out of control real fast.

Slafbustky gets written off. I mean he's no McDavid but around 40 points at 19 for a big guy like him is very promising in my book.

The problem with that is the habs would like to send Roy for a Laval run and you need players , so why give a player you have ?
