I don't understand not sitting Savard it's one f***ing game and if he goes out and gets hurt you lose out on taking advantage of some crazy desperate team last minute.
He was told we aren't looking to trade him so sitting him sends the opposite message. :dunno:
If we were to sit him it would tell me a trade is imminent and they are just hashing out some finer details.
I have no issues with this and like a management group who stick their guns and their word.

The only hope at this point is Jake Allen. I don't think we are trading anyone else, unless its another AHL prospect swap.

His negotiation leverage is that he doesn’t have to trade him. More than happy to keep him another year. He’s not giving anyone reasons to think otherwise.

Gallagher is unmovable...never mind his salary, why would any team want to acquire him along with his NTC?

Habs are just going to have to eat that contract for the time being and really, it doesn't hurt them either way for the time being.

In 2025-26, that might be different but I think he'll only have that year and the next left before he's a UFA...buyout might be more palatable at that point.

31 teams have a NTY clause in effect for Gallagher.

Well they are going to look stupid af if he gets injured tonight just so they could "stick to their guns"

They're going to look stupid because they're not sitting a guy who is not on an expiring contract and who they're not actively shopping and will only move if their high price is met?

The only reason to sit him out is if a deal is close/imminent. If they did actually want to seriously move Savard, sitting him is tipping their hand.

I am puzzled by GMs refusing to go truly all-in (looking at you Carolina, Edmonton, etc). Vegas has shown low 1st rounder are worthless when you are at the peak of your competitive window.
Agreed, with the league parity. A team's window is a lot smaller than in the past. If you have a legitimate shot. IMO you have to go for it.

Why? They aren't going to the playoffs and they aren't shopping him.
Because on the off chance someone were to give a 1st for him we could make some real noise at the draft instead of trading our 3 or 4 excess d for reclamation forwards just mo I know you guys don't agree
