The "tougher to play against" narrative is horsespit. We heard that last year and that's why we got Shaw and Weber, no? We were no harder to play against at all.

You know what makes things harder for other teams? Scoring more goals than them.

Some of the reactions here are so histrionic it's priceless. Every single move Bergy makes is seen as the worst thing he possibly could have done. Even inconsequential depth moves cause people to freak out. Calm down.

It's not the individual moves. It's that a vast majority of his moves are so similar. Grinder after grinder after grinder, even if that's not what is needed at all.

I like the King deal. Added some much needed grit and size to the bottom 6 and he's only 27 so if he works out he could be re-signed.

Nice :), thanks.

I'm not a Kings fan for the record but i always liked King. He's the perfect 4th liner

A completely different beast than Flynn , Carr , Ghetto , Mitchell....Dude is a tank

Yes it's a trade for anither bottom 6 but i can't complain on this one.

Dont agree with this at all, we used to get blown out of the water last year, and habs would just give up after 1 goal. This year, they stay in the fight and are definitely more annoying to play against, at least thats what I've noticed.

These are good moves, but we still need some scoring. MB isnt done yet.

These moves are being made to go from a Therrien team to a Julien team but without more offence it really won't matter much..

Yeah I really am puzzled by this. Teams don't give a crap how hard it is to play against us... They win the game if they score 2 goals.

What people forget, well under the old regime to be fair, is that because of the lack of scoring bottom 6 players become top 6 players. They then forget that they are here to create space and be physical. Dale weise thought he was a top 6 player for example.

Damn they're a lot tougher with Ott, King, Benn and Davidson (no knock on Pateryn but his 'toughness' was overrated). King brings something that's been missing since Prust's 2nd year with us.

What's not needed? Our bottom 6 hasn't scored in a long time. Why is upgrading out bottom 6 "not needed"? Our bottom 6 has gotten way better over the past couple of days. If you just look at these moves as revamping our bottom 6, it's easy to be very happy with the moves he has made today. It's only if you are fixated on getting a great top 6 player that these moves look like they are wrongheaded. If you look at them in the context of improving the bottom 6, they are smart moves.

King is actually great, well as a 4th liner. But, and this is the same but we have been hearing for years now, this will not impact the top 6 in any way.
