Like I said, this was told to me by others, so it has nothing to do with me. To be fair, it was also maybe the most obvious thing ever. It would be nice if it shut people up about the "no tax states!" nonsense, but I doubt it will. Two thoughts this morning:
1. Dreger has never been less connected. A week ago he said he doesn't see Raddysh leaving Tampa.
2. We need to never doubt @Buckley again. He is our King. He told us we were winning the draft lotto and he told us we were signing Raddysh.
Buck - what's next big boy?
I'd expect Rielly and Carlo traded to bring in different players. 4 new players on defense. But we'll see, maybe things change and Rielly doesn't go. I just don't see a world where they keep Carlo. I've been wrong before though.
New coach/system and Andrae too. More skill, puck movement, and a coach that's less likely to heavily promote pucks of glass as the default.Have to imagine Matthews and Nylander are pleased with the off-season so far.
McKenna and Raddysh is a great start before even hitting July 1st
Ryan Shea is an interesting UFA option if we move Rielly.
Gotta think at least one of those two move, as Andrae should be in the top 6.
I think he was drafted as a center but gets almost no usage that way. A trade for him would need to assume he is a winger.20 goals though and only 24 years old. Also I think Mercer can play center if needed. Future 3C? What would be a good return for McCabe?
stay away from Byram. That next contract is going to be disgusting. To Toronto-
Byram
Krebs
To Buffalo-
Cowan
Carlo
Colorado 1st Round Pick
Byram- Raddysh
Mccabe- Tanev
Andrea-OEL
He's a 25 year old top pairing defenseman, what do you expect?stay away from Byram. That next contract is going to be disgusting.
We won't need to retain on Mo. Even without retention the 2nd should be coming back the other way. Offensive defensemen are extremely hard to find. They've now added 2 defenseman and likely add 1 more via trade or free agency. That will be enough tinkering with the d-core for one off season.
Time to address the forward group with some youth and upside at the Draft. The next piece of business I'd try to get done would be...
To San Jose
Morgan Rielly ($1.5 million retained)
2026 2nd Round Pick
To Toronto
Collin Graf
Would love to see Rielly return Graf in a deal, I just don’t see why San Jose would do that. They've now added 2 defenseman and likely add 1 more via trade or free agency. That will be enough tinkering with the d-core for one off season.
