He's been with the team for a 14 years, wore his heart on his sleeve, took a reasonable deal and always stepped up in the playoffsNo it won’t.
He's a Leafs legend

I thought we should have signed Boeser last year to play with Matthews.Retaining on Pete’s contract would be hilarious
And Boeser just re-upped there
What a side show
Agreed... the one reason I'd be a little bit interested is that he has been coached by Keefe and his weird rotating D with forwards offensive strategy. He's a a very poor coach IMO. So we might buying low on a #1 pairing Dman. And if that's the case getting additional pieces on top of a #1 pairing dman for Knies would be huge.I challenged an NJD fan on this very point recently.
If we drafted Chase Reid with the 2OA pick this June, and things were generally going according to script and he was developing into a foundational piece, would you be tossing his name around in the trade market 4 years from now? The answer is hell no.
That's all you need to know about Nemec. Love to get him as a reclamation, but not as loose change coming back for Knies.
Naa he's another floater with little compete. We do need some right hand shots though.I thought we should have signed Boeser last year to play with Matthews.
So, it isn't NJ fans?
What fans think is fair is so completely moot, especially with the massive anti-Leafs bias on here and elsewhere. So, it isn't NJ fans?
Anyway, even in your Reid example with us, say he did disappoint, you/we would still want to recoup some value from the pick, which is the spot the NJ fans find themselves in, where they don't want to give him away, but putting him in a package may be the best way to do it.
Is that for Knies? clearly not some people in here, and that's fine. The impression I've got through going through the threads with this idea, even going back to the deadline, is that it's closer than we think.
So I don't know, we often get accused of overrating our own stuff, or are they just being haters?

Then I do not envision a trade between the two franchises.I kinda like:
Knies
Robertson
Col First 2027
2026 3rd
4AO
Frondell
Rintzel
Think the value is closish
It's not that deep, man. It's only game. What fans think is fair is so completely moot, especially with the massive anti-Leafs bias on here and elsewhere.
If anyone takes that even remotely seriously, them they seriously need to examine all the life choices that somehow led to thinking that is remotely relevant......
I was going to say the exact same with 4th, Rinzel and Greene. I like Greene's ability to play both C and RW, apparently defensively responsible, plays PP and PK, 6.1 and 195 lbs, who is good on his skates and has his first season under his belt playing alongside a top talent (Bedard) for a good portion of the year.Only way we should get rid of Knies is for a top package the 4th overall plus Rinzel plus Greene or Nazar
While I like the idea, I'm not sure how much mentoring Sundin could accomplish that the twins in Vancouver couldn't. But, as you mentioned, Nylander. Now that's an exciting consideration, though it could prove to be a nightmare. On the one hand - damn that talent - on the other hand - yikes, those boneheaded defensive gaffs - which way would it go? It's a darned sexy consideration, I think you'd have to think about it. What would be the cost?I'd take on Pettersson full freight if it brought down the cost to aquire him
He's unbelievably talented and I think that cap hit is going to become less of a problem as the deal ages, he's the ideal 2C who can play on the wing if you want to load up
I think he will get back to himself with Nylander on his wing and Sundin to mentor him in the organization
Also Andrae ....everyone speaks how highly competive he is.I know Knies is our best chance to get a haul or long missing top D, but I would hope management is trying to identify the players that set the culture and identity of the team. I think some combo of Knies, Cowan, Danford could be start of a tenacious identity that is different from the wine and dine of the previous culture.
Isn’t Luke Hughes a young D Keefe is playing?Nemec is so much better than Jiricek offensively its not even remotely close.
I really fail to see why people undervalue Nemec so much. Sheldon "i refuse to play young defenseman" Keefe is his coach. His offensive opportunities have been blocked by Hughes and Hamilton. He has attached an anchor in Kastelic, Siegenthaler, and Dillon to all of those guys similar to how Holl played a billion minutes for us. Its a dude who in the year of 2025-26 had Connor freaking Brown as his 5th most played forward at 5v5 and a permanent spot on the PP. Give Nemec actual minutes with a real 2-way defenseman and a PP1 season.
I'd still want to hold off on Knies for him as I think NJ, and specifically Keefe tanked his value, but I'd love to get a deal done somehow.
