GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

That's someone I was hoping the Leafs would get at the deadline and this off-season. One of the fastest skaters out there.

Very good bet by the Devils here for a fourth.

Rock me Amadeus. Great name.

Or Chayka is talking trade with the leakers while hes working on the real trade behind the scenes. JC loves misdirection.
Or they already have a deal and all this is just Trolling the media for fun as they are waiting to annouce the deal at the draft in Buffalo. League use to have a gag order on any trades for 1st round picks before the draft so it didn't spoil the TV coverage.

My entire schtick around here is that we get better by introducing accountability to the club. Especially after the 18 wheeler season we just had. We don't get better by keeping the same players around for year 11 of this era either. Keeping players just for the sake of it is soft, indecisive, and is a huge part of why our team's culture is a country club. Screw the 2nd round pick or whatever we're holding out for in a Rielly trade, the leadership group of the last 10 years is a millstone hanging around this team's neck and we are absolutely better by moving on from as many of them as possible, as soon as possible.
I go back to..... it's June 25th. This is a recording.

Look, no one will be happy with a status quo, although for the most part that is the team that won the Atlantic and finished 4th overall

Why chicken little it on the 5th day of summer before the draft and UFA? Seems like premature eja........

Rielly has waived his NTC and is actively working with management to find him a new team. Now our GM is in the media saying he'll probably be here next year and the fanbase is discussing how it's a good thing because we should protect asset value.

This is a golden opportunity to move on from a core player. Don't mistake me, I want Matthews and Nylander gone too, but they're nailed down and I can't reasonably expect it. But Rielly is right there, primed to leave, and I can already see how this progresses to him being a Leaf next year and we go into year 11 with the same leadership group.

It's not even the draft, after year 10. I am deeply impatient because I am desperate for trades that indicate accountability will enter our club, and I already see the same old "patience" rhetoric that will inevitably have 44 on our blueline next year. I beg for a GM who is decisive. Carpe Diem, take the third round pick for Rielly or whatever and tell the league (and pending UFA class) that we're serious about moving on from the 18 wheeler season last year that nobody around here seems to remember.
I'll let you in on the secret: Chayka is lying.

The Chayka head fake is coming. The teams rumoured for Knies have been the Sharks, Sabres and Hawks with the #2 or #4. I'll assume hes actually dealing with the Rangers for the #5++ or the Kraken for the 7th++.

Okay first off, calm down. It's not that serious. It was a passing comment.

It is an uninformed comment and this place is full of those, to the point of ridiculousness. People fail to read, or understand what they've read, then create posts that are complete fantasies and ten pages later others are quoting them like they are fact. For example, how many times have people commented in this very thread about the Leafs looking to trade Knies when that has never, ever been the case? It is f**king ridiculous and people need to stop posting bullshit.

Second, there has been plenty of chatter about the two players being friends even if not directly mentioned in the linked article. That's what I was referring to.

No, you said it was now "Matthews wooing Werenski" when absolutely nobody has said that. You posted bullshit as if it was fact.

Third, both having contracts expiring at the same time and having the same agent is hardly a link to Toronto to begin with.

Irrelevant. We are talking here about you claiming Matthews was wooing Werenski, nothing else.

I'd like to take the burden of Werenski off the blue jackets for them
JC: "Hey Matty, help us recruit some Americans up north. If next season goes well we'll lock everyone in long term. Otherwise we'll deal both of you together the following summer wherever you choose."

And then it all gets posted here. 10 times 😂
Yeah, that tends to happen in forums about specific topics... It's for people to discuss things, even if it's not accurate—it's still a discussion. So you're salty because an online forum is fulfilling its purpose? Sounds more like a you problem.
