Pagnotta seemed adamant they wouldn't retain on him and wouldn't give him up for nothing in return, so those are 2 strikes that remove the Leafs. It's far too much of a risk for his red flags.

Lol obviously the 1OA is not being moved, but Mateychuk + Marchenko + Johnston would definitely be enough to consider moving it in a year Gavin McKenna is 1OA. We're not talking a Connor McDavid / Sidney Crosby type center at 1OA.

Mateychuk is 21 years old and on his ELC. He just put up 31 points in his first full season. He's going to be a #1 caliber defenseman for the next 12-15 years. Absolute stud, the likes of which Toronto has lacked.

Marchenko is 25 years old and will be an RFA. He's put up 74 and 67 points in back-to-back seasons. He's a surefire top 6 RW just entering his prime.

Kent Johnston is 23 years old and will be an RFA. He's coming off a down season, but at 22 (one year ago) he put up 57 points. Tons of upside left in him and could eventually knock Tavares down into the 3C role as he continues to develop.

Mateychuk was drafted #12OA. Johnston was drafted #5OA. Marchenko was a 2nd rounder, that like Knies, has far outplayed where he was drafted.

For f**k sakes. It has been said multiple times - he does not need to be moved nor are they looking to move him. Nobody is untouchable so they are listening to offers, but will only pull the trigger if someone blows their doors off with an offer.
